In the vast factory area, apart from the roar of machinery, the noise of people was faint.
Some automated machines had already replaced manual assembly lines, so there weren't many staff in the company's factory area. Qi Sui followed behind Selina, listening to their communication, while she recorded relatively important information.
Selina folded her arms, communicating with the person in charge with ease, showing no sign of having just broken the awkward atmosphere between herself and LEO.
Qi Sui sighed inwardly.
"Is there a problem?"
When she came back to her senses, Selina was standing behind her, squinting as she examined the records she had taken. "It doesn't seem like there's a big problem, does it?"
"Mm." Qi Sui perked up. "Some data seems to differ from the documents, but otherwise no major issues."
The factory area manager still had some work to finish and left first.
Selina stretched her long legs, pulled out a chair, and sat beside her, with an intrigued expression on her face.
She glanced at the diamond ring on Qi Sui's ring finger and smiled teasingly, seeming quite curious. "You're not going to suddenly go have a child while working, are you?"
"Huh?" Qi Sui's eyes widened, not understanding the implication of her question. "I... I shouldn't."
Selina sighed. "Before, I had a young woman under me. She also promised to work with me, but got pregnant just three months after getting married. She was the most familiar with that project, and in the end, it was delayed by half a year."
"I won't."
Qi Sui's voice was strained, and she chose to voluntarily tear open her own wound. "I've been married for six years. No children."
Selina seemed not to notice her hesitation and confusion, and pressed on, "Is your husband very busy?"
But she only saw the thin woman before her lower her eyelashes, staring blankly at the diamond ring on her finger, murmuring, "Mm, he should be very busy. But he won't be busy anymore."
Selina paused for a moment, her tone becoming elusive. "I've been married too."
The word "been" was very plain, yet it forced one to notice.
Qi Sui looked up at her, then reflexively glanced at her fingers, but saw no trace of marriage there.
Selina smiled. "But we're different. In our case, both sides were too busy, and that's why we drifted apart."
What Selina didn't say was that although her previous marriage was short, it wasn't necessarily unhappy. But the Qi Sui in front of her looked exactly like someone who had been neglected and ignored in marriage—like a rose that hadn't been carefully tended, withering day by day.
Beautiful and precious species should be cherished all the more, not left to wither like this, fragile and with their fragrance all but gone.
However, she wouldn't comment on what Xiao Yu was thinking.
Selina half-closed her eyes, recalling what she had just seen.
Aloof and distant Xiang Yu—aside from the changes in his family during college, Selina had never seen him show an urgent desire for anything.
That didn't mean he didn't desire; it was just that, like children who have grown up, like every adult, he hid his desires and passions in his heart. It was just that, at that moment, Selina had seen it.
He had crossed the normal distance of social interaction, personally placing that blue lunchbox—so mismatched for him—into the woman's hands, watching her lower her head, his eyes deep.
The two stood against the light, the man's figure completely blocking the frail woman, only revealing her slender legs in jeans, squeezed together as she stood nervously by the public table in the break room, her pale skin contrasting with a slightly darker complexion.
Selina couldn't see the woman's expression, only Xiang Yu competing and vying. If it hadn't been her who came, this scene would have spread like air to every corner of the company by tomorrow.
What was he thinking?
Could he be waiting for her to get divorced?
That was absurd.
How was that any different from forcing the issue?
She wanted to clean up after Xiang Yu, but he clearly didn't appreciate it.
Selina sighed, hiding her merit and fame.
