Chapter 43: Buying Invisibility Talismans, Acting Alone

But it wasn't time yet. She would have to wait until dark. Otherwise, if she suddenly disappeared and others noticed, it would be hard to explain.

Worried the Invisibility Talismans might sell out, Jiang Yuntan bought six right away. Each lasted fifteen minutes, so they'd last an hour and a half total, definitely enough for her to collect the containers at the harbor, maybe even have some left over.

But these six talismans cost her 4,800 dimensional coins, leaving her with just over 20,000.

She still needed to earn more money.

Next time she came across a gold shop, she would collect again. However, they were going to be on highways from now on, so it would be hard to find gold shops.

Jiang Yuntan looked around and spotted a scooter. After a moment's thought, she stuffed it into her space.

The harbor was quite far; she couldn't just walk there on foot.

Unexpectedly, just as she put away the scooter, Lin Tingxue appeared at the top of the stairs.

Seeing that Jiang Yuntan's bracelet was still on her wrist, Lin Tingxue breathed a sigh of relief.

In her memory, after Jiang Yuntan stopped showing off her bracelet for a while, she seemed to have become stronger.

Now the bracelet was still on her wrist, meaning she hadn't discovered its secret.

Lin Tingxue silently prayed that Jiang Yuntan wouldn't get hurt, to avoid her blood dripping onto the bracelet.

"Yuntan, why are you here alone?" Lin Tingxue asked first.

Jiang Yuntan gave her a cold glance. "Why do you care what I do? You can come up, and I can't?"

"No, my clothes are dirty, so I came up to change. I saw everyone downstairs but not you, so I asked."

Lin Tingxue continued to explain, "The apocalypse isn't safe. You shouldn't separate from the group, to avoid accidents."

Jiang Yuntan sneered. "Not safe? If you think it's unsafe to be alone, why did you come up alone?"

Before Lin Tingxue could say anything, Jiang Yuntan lifted her chin and walked past her without another glance.

Lin Tingxue: ...

After going downstairs, Jiang Yuntan saw that everyone had found places to sit and rest.

She scanned the room and saw Shen Hegui beckoning her over.

Jiang Yuntan saw a steaming latte on their table and walked over. Unexpectedly, in just the short time she had been upstairs, they had already brewed coffee.

Qiao Chengming's complexion looked much better.

Looking at the map Shen Hegui had spread on the table with a route drawn, he asked, "You're going back to Jing City?"

"Mm." Shen Hegui nodded slightly.

Qiao Chengming: "But with so many zombies now, and possibly animals like the zombie husky, the journey back to Jing City is long. Won't you encounter a lot of danger?"

"Actually, we encountered a mutated pothos that drains people dry in a shopping mall in the city," Yu Ke said. "But today was our first time facing such a large zombie animal."

"We know the road back is dangerous, but if we don't go now, it will probably be even harder later."

Shen Hegui also said, "While powerful mutated plants, animals, and zombies haven't established territories, hurrying back to Jing City is the best choice."

"Neither the mutated pothos nor the zombie husky had other zombies around. Either the zombies were afraid of them, or they had eliminated the other zombies."

Qiao Chengming had only encountered the zombie husky; he didn't know about the mutated plant. Hearing this, his expression became grave.

Even the pothos in the mall could mutate and drain blood. What about plants outdoors and in the wild? Could they become even more dangerous?

Shen Hegui leaned back casually in his chair and asked, "What about you? Any plans for the future?"

He knew Qiao Chengming had grown up in an orphanage with no parents and had come to Haicheng to develop his career.

If Qiao Chengming was willing to return with them to Jing City, he would be very welcome. After all, he had already experienced the power of ability users.

He wasn't sure about the capabilities of other abilities, but the Metal Element could seize enemies' weapons, the Wood Element could heal, and for the Water Element, he hadn't seen anything special yet.

But that didn't mean the Water Element's attack power was low; it just hadn't found its true use yet.

Qiao Chengming thought for a moment and quickly gave his answer. "Senior Brother, if you don't mind me joining, I'll go back to Jing City with you."

"Teacher should be in Jing City too. It's a good chance to visit them."

"Of course, I welcome you to join us," Shen Hegui said, extending his hand.

Qiao Chengming shook it. "It's thanks to you that I, an ability user, was saved. Otherwise, I might have died in that zombie husky's jaws."

"Going back with you also means I won't have to worry about finding a way to repay you for saving my life," Qiao Chengming joked.

Jiang Yuntan heard his words and suddenly remembered that when they found the zombie husky, it seemed to be sniffing something.

Now that she thought about it, could it have been looking for the hidden Qiao Chengming?

And so, Qiao Chengming decided to go with them back to Jing City.

When Lin Tingxue came downstairs and heard the news, she wasn't surprised.

Time passed minute by minute. The wind and rain outside grew stronger. Even though it was only three or four in the afternoon, the sky looked mostly dark.

It made people feel that something big was about to happen.

Shen Hegui simply told everyone to find a place to rest and wait for the storm to pass.

Thinking about the zero-cost shopping she might have to do tonight, Jiang Yuntan directly said, "I want to sleep alone."

Shen Hegui: ...

Yu Ke and the others were already used to it. Qiao Chengming glanced at her but said nothing.

Shen Hegui paused for a moment before calmly asking, "Where do you want to stay? There aren't many places to sleep in this coffee shop."

How could Jiang Yuntan not know? She simply wanted a private space so she could go out at night.

So, she looked at the small booths in the back. They were called booths, but they were just partitioned by wooden boards and weren't soundproof at all.

She pointed there. "I'll spread something to sleep on in there. I don't want to sleep on these seats."

Shen Hegui's expression didn't change. "Okay, I'll go check with you later."

Luckily, it wasn't a big deal.

Lin Tingxue knew the layout upstairs was similar. After thinking, she also said she wanted to sleep in the booths like Jiang Yuntan.

So, the men simply gave the booths to the women.
