Chapter 10 (2)

She didn't want to break it. Song Guanyu rarely experienced such quiet moments. The ring on her hand was warm, squeezing her heart.

She suddenly thought of the photographer's question that morning: had she ever been in love?

Had Ye Yansheng been in love? He was nine years older, meaning he had enjoyed nine more years of wonderful life in this world, experienced things she hadn't. When he was happy and joyful in his life, who was by his side, sharing in his joy? He must have had his first blush of love in his youth. Had he ever felt his heart race?

Had his attentive care and gentle emotions been given to others as well... The reflection in the glass showed her brows furrowed.

She hadn't realized she was starting to care about his past.

"What are you doing standing here?" a voice came from behind.

Song Guanyu immediately turned around, startled back to reality. She looked at him, his face vividly clear under the light.

He was gazing at her deeply.

But she didn't have time to dwell on it. Ye Yansheng wrapped his arm around her waist and lifted her, walking toward the dining table. Her legs immediately hooked around his waist, and her hands naturally draped over the back of his neck.

His broad, warm hand gently supported her bottom to prevent her from slipping. Song Guanyu's fair legs tensed slightly, her round toes curling.

Ye Yansheng frowned and scolded her, "Why aren't you wearing shoes properly? What if you catch a cold?" He glanced at her wrapped hair, his frown deepening. "And you didn't dry your hair properly. We'll eat hotpot later; first, let's dry your hair."

He gently set her down on a chair and was about to go get the hair dryer.

Suddenly, she called out to him.

"Dr. Ye."

Ye Yansheng turned around.

"Have you ever been in love?"

As she asked, Song Guanyu realized that deep down, she was hoping for a certain answer from Ye Yansheng—one that would make her happy.

Ye Yansheng was almost amused by the question. "Miss Song, I believe I told you when we got married: I have no romantic history. My future will only have you."

"Why did you suddenly ask that?" he added.

Song Guanyu averted her gaze from his eyes, her pupils trembling slowly before she spoke. "I was just curious!"

Suddenly, Ye Yansheng looked at her and asked a question of his own.

"Why did you agree to marry me back then?"

Under the light, Ye Yansheng's eyes held everything. His gaze was like a deep sea—always gentle and tender when looking at you, but also capable of devouring you at any moment.

Song Guanyu felt a little scared but forced herself to meet his eyes and said, "I just wanted to get married. What else could it be?"

Ye Yansheng smiled faintly. "I'll get the hair dryer to blow-dry your hair. Don't get off the chair." Then he walked out of her sight, his pace slightly faster than usual.
