"Married."
The first rays of morning sunlight gently spilled in, illuminating Song Guanyu's fair, pink-tinted cheeks. Her long lashes rested quietly beneath her eyes, occasionally fluttering with the clear, cool breeze. She was still in a deep, drowsy sleep.
Ye Yansheng had to go to work. He had quietly gotten up, washed up in the next room, and now returned to the bedroom. Song Guanyu was half-asleep; having lost his familiar embrace, she was starting to stir. The soft sound of the door opening made her ears twitch. She lay on her side on the pristine white pillow, one rosy cheek bearing a crease from the pillow. Her red lips, touched by the bright daylight, looked even more full and moist.
Slowly, she opened her sleepy eyes to the sunlight outside. The day was already bright. The shadows of tree leaves filtered through the window, scattering mottled patterns on the ice-silk bedspread.
Song Guanyu's eyes were still unfocused, her head buzzing.
Then the bed behind her dipped. A familiar, cool mint scent filled her nostrils, followed by a warm chest pressing against her thin back. There was also a hint of morning dampness and the faint, pleasant fragrance of body wash.
Ye Yansheng wrapped his arms around her from behind, his lips brushing her ear as he whispered, "Awake?" His warm, broad hand rested on her waist. His voice was full of reluctance. "Wife, your husband has to go to work. You sleep a little longer." He hugged her tightly, burying his head in her neck and nuzzling gently, then kissed her bare shoulder exposed above the blanket.
