The atmosphere dropped to freezing point. Song Guanyu thought to herself.
Love? She didn't understand what love was.
She frowned and then said, "What does that have to do with shooting this perfume commercial?"
Romain sighed and shook his head. "You have something on your mind. This perfume is about a young girl's sweetness. Your performance was technically fine, but the look in your eyes that you gave the camera was troubled, blank, and sad. I didn't see a hint of sweetness in you. Perfume is about using the sense of smell to bring pleasure. It's like when you smell your lover's scent—even if he hasn't sprayed any perfume, you still find it wonderful, and you feel especially happy. It's not the anxiety you showed just now."
"But I didn't see any of that in you. I'm sorry, Song. Let's take a break for a while. You might be too tired." After saying this, Romain left with his team.
Lu Chunhe stood nearby, watching Song Guanyu with concern. They had communicated in French, so she didn't understand, but judging from Song Guanyu's expression, she was confused and at a loss.
This was the first time Lu Chunhe had seen such a look on Song Guanyu's face. In all her previous work shoots, she had performed perfectly.
Song Guanyu stood frozen for a few seconds. Suddenly, a figure appeared before her. She slowly lifted her head and met Ye Yansheng's eyes. He was slightly out of breath.
Lu Chunhe witnessed the change in Song Guanyu's expression—it was like finding something she had lost. She was stunned. What was going on?
Ye Yansheng hadn't left. Beads of sweat glistened at his temples. He was still wrapped up tightly. Song Guanyu saw that his arms were also drenched in sweat. The only difference she noticed was his hand, which held a white transparent bag filled with stomach medicine.
Her pupils constricted. So he had gone out to buy her stomach medicine. But she wasn't really in pain—she had made up that excuse.
Ye Yansheng looked at the Little Radish Head before him with confusion. How could she look so wilted after just an hour?
He asked softly, "What's wrong? Is your stomach still hurting? I just went out and bought you some medicine. You—"
"Dr. Ye." Her voice was hoarse and dry as she interrupted him. She looked up, her pupils trembling, and her words quivered. "I don't have a stomachache. I just felt uncomfortable for no reason earlier. I took my anger out on you. The stomachache was an excuse I made up. I thought you had left. I—" Her words grew faster, mixed with sobs.
Ye Yansheng understood. He waited patiently for her to continue.
"I know I was strange today. I've never been like this before. Really." Tears moistened Song Guanyu's lashes. "I'm sorry, Dr. Ye. I didn't mean to hit you earlier. After you left, I felt unsettled. And—I can't focus on my work!" She hiccupped. "You make my heart race, and I can't concentrate on my work!"
He had turned around and left without saying a word. Song Guanyu was scared and felt wronged.
Seeing Ye Yansheng, who had gone out to buy her medicine in the scorching heat, the tip of her nose began to tingle. She lowered her head. Ye Yansheng noticed her little nostrils fluttering slightly, her eyes red and filled with moisture, threatening to spill over.
She was about to cry.
The expression behind Ye Yansheng's sunglasses softened. He pursed his lips and looked around to make sure no one was watching. Then he leaned in and whispered, "Come out with me."
Lu Chunhe watched dumbfounded as Song Guanyu obediently nodded and followed Ye Yansheng out.
Why did they give off such strong domestic vibes?
They entered a cramped little room—a storage closet.
Ye Yansheng used his leg to hook the door shut gently. Then he turned to look at the sniffling Song Guanyu. Teardrops were falling one by one. It made him want to laugh a little.
Little Radish Head looked so pitiful when crying, but he felt a strangely sweet feeling stirring in his heart. So he cupped her face, using his thumbs to wipe away her tears. The tears rolled on her skin, burning into his heart.
He felt a bit sorry for her.
Song Guanyu's eyes were beautiful; they shouldn't be crying over things like this.
He bent down and pressed his lips to her tears. Song Guanyu was startled by this action. She lifted her eyelids, looked at him with red-rimmed eyes, and heard him say, "Stop apologizing. I should have told you before I left. It's my fault." He had been too anxious earlier and should have let her know.
"Aren't you angry with me?"
Ye Yansheng smiled. "What would I be angry about?"
Song Guanyu's eyes suddenly darted around. She muttered, "But I am angry. You just left me behind. You need to make it up to me."
"What if I make you hotpot tonight? Would that count as making it up?" He coaxed her patiently.
In the cramped storage room, she stood very close to him. Now she could clearly see the dimples on his cheeks. In Ye Yansheng's narrow, deep eyes, he saw her red nose and teary eyes.
He thought she wanted to see her own reflection and bent down to speak. But just then, she blinked a few times and suddenly lowered her head.
"You can't kiss me now. I'm wearing lipstick! It'll smudge!"
As she finished, silence fell. Their heartbeats sounded like water boiling at 100 degrees, racing and nearly overflowing.
A hearty laugh came from the chest before her, vibrating. Song Guanyu blushed and covered her face.
So embarrassing.
The man enveloped her entire body in his arms, his chin resting on top of her head. He said gently, "I won't kiss you. Do a good job at work later, and I'll make you hotpot when you get home. Be good, Song Xiaodai." He hoped to always see the Song Xiaodai who loved eating, greedy and gluttonous. Being a bit silly was fine. She didn't need to be so perceptive or apologize for this.
Song Guanyu curled up in his broad chest. Hearing him call her 'Song Xiaodai' left her momentarily speechless. He was quite good at giving nicknames. But it didn't sound bad. She reached out and wrapped her arms around his waist.
His body warmth spread to her. She closed her eyes, pressing against his chest, savoring the momentary warmth. A pleasant scent suddenly entered her nostrils—she couldn't identify it.
Slowly, she tilted her head up to look at the exposed part of Ye Yansheng's neck. A black mole on his pulse point was particularly alluring. Dazedly, she couldn't help but press her lips there.
The man holding her suddenly pulled her tighter. She saw his Adam's apple move a few times. Song Guanyu curved her eyes and smiled before pulling away and burying her head in his embrace, hugging him fully.
Hugging was the most wonderful thing in the world. She loved hugging him.
Ye Yansheng's heartstrings trembled at her actions. The taste of her tears still lingered on his lips—salty. His heart pounded wildly.
He suppressed the strange sensation in his throat. His heart swayed, and his ears buzzed with a loud roar. Inside him, it felt like rivers and seas were churning up towering waves.
