Chapter 4 (3)

In the past, her hairstylists or her mother would do her hair. She considered herself someone who couldn't take care of daily life properly, whether it was the scattered sheet music, lyrics, or various musical instruments.

The chaotic mess proved she took poor care of herself, as seen in the details of her life.

Occasionally, when she was in a bad mood, she would vent to her family and friends, who would always tolerate all her faults. But just now, she had naturally complained to Ye Yansheng.

A little person inside her heart was wrestling, vowing to control herself next time, afraid he might think she was spoiled.

She had her own property elsewhere, occasionally returning to her parents' home, but mostly staying in her messy recording studio, where the floor was hard to step on, covered in scribbled drafts.

Thinking of this, she felt a bit embarrassed now.

"Dr. Ye," she said in a weak, hesitant voice.

Ye Yansheng, who was carefully combing her hair, looked up and met her eyes in the mirror.

"Hmm?"

"Do you think I'm annoying? And that I have a bad temper? Putting hair up is such a small matter. I wasn't like this before, believe it or not?" she muttered, picking at her nails.

His movements didn't stop. Ye Yansheng thought for a few seconds before speaking.

"I only see it as you acting spoiled. Children and adults alike have the right to act spoiled and angry. No one can be perfect. Just be yourself." He finished shaping the bun and continued, "I don't think you're annoying, nor that you have a bad temper. On the contrary, I'm grateful that you show these genuine emotions in front of me."

With his final words: "We are husband and wife, one entity." He secured the bun with a few hairpins. "I also have times when I'm in a bad mood. Then I'll need you to be tolerant of me."

Her hair was done. He left a few strands by her ears, matching her bangs, making her look very well-behaved—exactly the style young girls liked nowadays. All of this he had learned from the little clever one at his cousin's house, and now it came in handy.

Now he was taking care of this little dazed one.

"Done. See if you like it." He bent down a little, his eyes and brows smiling, his hands resting on her small shoulders on either side.

His cheek touched hers as they looked at the same image in the mirror. The early summer sun had fully emerged with time, slanting through the large floor-to-ceiling window into a corner of the vanity.

In that captured moment, half of their bodies were bathed in sunlight, the other half hidden in shadow.

On the side of the wall, their entwined shadows were cast. The scene was one of intimate caressing, creating tiny ripples in the heart.

Like light fluttering catkin fluff landing on a calm lake surface. Though light, it stirred ripples that gradually enlarged.

Unsettling.
