Chapter 6 (3)

Her figure glowed in the lamplight.

He was slightly taken aback: "This is?"

"Dr. Ye, I picked the most beautiful flower from Senior Brother Bai's garden. I'm giving it to you."

Ye Yansheng froze. Looking at the not-so-fresh rose, his eyes were full of surprise. So Little Radish Head had intended to give it to him.

"Take it, Dr. Ye." She was a bit nervous too, afraid he would refuse. That would be embarrassing.

Snapped back to reality by her voice, he took it hastily. Song Guanyu breathed a sigh of relief in her heart—at least he took it. Her gaze fell on his earlobes, which were faintly red.

So he really does get shy. But she decided not to call him out on it.

Ye Yansheng asked her, "You didn't go to the bedroom to sleep, you waited here, just to give me a rose?" This side of Song Guanyu caught him off guard, and his heart suddenly started beating faster for no reason.

She suddenly leaned in. Her almond-shaped eyes reflected him, close enough to almost touch the tip of his nose. The lingering fragrance of the rose filled the air between them, stirring many unspoken feelings.

Ye Yansheng heard her say sweetly,

"Dr. Ye, because I wanted to give it to you, so I did. And you're beautiful, and the rose is beautiful too. Although the flower can't compare to you, I just wanted to give it to you. Besides, I once heard a little saying: if someone returning home receives a beautiful flower, they will be blessed by the god of luck and be lucky for life."

Xu Jiayu had told her that. At the time, she thought it was very romantic. Whether it was true or not didn't matter; it was just for joy.

Now that she had done what she set out to do, sleepiness washed over Song Guanyu, overwhelming her. As she collapsed into Ye Yansheng's arms, she added one last unfinished sentence.

Her voice was tender.

"Dr. Ye, I hope you're happy. I hope you're lucky." Then she fell into the crook of his neck and fell fast asleep.

The hand holding the stem of the rose curled slightly a few times, then relaxed.

Ye Yansheng first placed the flower on the table. Then, pursing his lips, he slid one arm under her knees and the other around her waist, lifting her up. He gently laid her on the bed, covered her with the quilt, then leaned down and pressed a kiss on her forehead. His fingertips brushed the strands of hair by her ear. His gaze dropped to her full, plump pink lips. Without hesitation, he leaned in and pressed his lips against hers.

Their lips met, carrying their own hidden feelings.

Ye Yansheng didn't linger long. He lowered his gaze to look at the sleeping Song Guanyu, then pulled back. In the darkness, the man spoke softly: "Good night, Miss Song. Sweet dreams."

His dark pupils gazed at her.

Maybe I really have started to be lucky.

No one could see the depth in his eyes, the faint light flickering—extinguished for a moment, then bright again—an endless stream of fragmented moonlight.

Author's Note:

Dr. Ye: "Didn't we agree to keep the marriage a secret? How did she just blurt it out like that?"

Song Xiaodai: "I just said it because I wanted to!"

Ah, our female lead is so cute. This chapter is soft and warm.

Rereading this chapter, I made a few edits. Amputation surgery doesn't require wearing a lead apron; it's a dissection surgery. In the text I wrote about lead apron, I'm sorry! After checking the information, I found that if intraoperative X-ray fluoroscopy is not involved, it might not be needed. (I now understand the struggles of medical students.) If there are any other bugs later, please point them out!
