Chapter 11 (3)

Zhou Dang felt relieved. He switched the umbrella to his left hand and naturally grabbed Xuan Yang's wrist with his right. "Then let's go, Mrs. Zhou."

Mrs. Zhou...

Xuan Yang was startled by this new title, her breath uneven.

By the time she regained her composure, Zhou Dang had already led her to the marriage registration counter.

He released her wrist and instead wrapped his arm around her shoulders, smiling at the counter staff with unprecedented tenderness in his voice. "Hello, we're here to register our marriage."

...

Perhaps because it was close to closing time, the staff worked quickly.

Filling in forms, taking a couple's photo, signing and stamping...

The two little red booklets symbolizing a sacred marriage were soon in Xuan Yang and Zhou Dang's hands.

The date-red covers were embossed with the golden national emblem and the words "Marriage Certificate of the People's Republic of China." The booklets felt weightless in their hands.

But Zhou Dang held his with both hands, staring at it for a long time.

In contrast, Xuan Yang quickly accepted the fact that she was now married.

She put her marriage certificate into her bag and turned to the man beside her with a serious expression. "If you have no objections to those two agreements, let's find a place to sign them?"

The marital agreement protected Zhou Dang's assets, and Xuan Yang was worried he might not understand its importance, so she specifically reminded him: "That marital agreement is to safeguard your assets. That way, even if our marriage breaks down in the future, you don't have to worry about me taking anything from you."

"As for the marital pact, it's based on the premise that we both want to live well together. It's meant to regulate and guide our post-marital behavior, which is beneficial for the continued development of our relationship."

Xuan Yang said a lot, her attitude sincere and without a hint of ulterior motives.

Every aspect was considered for Zhou Dang's benefit.

But Zhou Dang wasn't happy.

He tucked his marriage certificate into the inside pocket of his suit jacket and looked at Xuan Yang with somewhat resentful eyes. "Do we have to talk about this on such a joyful day, Mrs. Zhou?"

Xuan Yang: "..."

How did he manage to adapt so quickly?

Calling her "Mrs. Zhou" so smoothly at every turn.

Wasn't he at all embarrassed?
