Chapter 30 (2)

Xuan Yang approached the table and looked down at the candles and decorations, complemented by flowers and wine—it really had that atmosphere.

Tonight's dinner was Western-style, and every dish was prepared by Zhou Dang himself.

They looked very appetizing.

Xuan Yang agreed to have a drink with him.

They sat down at the table and first clinked glasses of red wine.

Zhou Dang mentioned the business trip and briefed Xuan Yang on the itinerary and the accompanying personnel.

"During the trip, I'll report to you every day," Zhou Dang said.

This self-awareness surprised Xuan Yang.

But she felt pressured: "You don't have to report every day."

In her view, even as a married couple, they should have their own space.

She never wanted to be the one to control someone else.

Besides, Zhou Dang was the CEO of Zhou Group. Wasn't he afraid of losing face by being so henpecked?

Zhou Dang glanced at her, vaguely understanding her thoughts.

A flicker of disappointment flashed in his eyes, quickly masked by a smile: "Alright, I'll contact you when I'm free."

As it stood, the distance between Xuan Yang and him was still unpredictable.

Zhou Dang knew that matters of the heart couldn't be rushed.

Even between adults, not everything progressed at a fast-food pace.

Moreover, Xuan Yang was a person of deep affection.

Her nature was bound to be slower to warm up.

After dinner, Xuan Yang helped clean up.

She didn't forget to care about Zhou Dang: "You have an early flight tomorrow. Shouldn't you pack your luggage tonight?"

"Need my help?"

Zhou Dang instinctively wanted to refuse, but after a moment's thought, he changed his tune: "Then I'll trouble Madam Zhou."

Xuan Yang had gotten used to the address and could handle it calmly now.

Around ten in the evening, Xuan Yang came out of the master bedroom and went to the guest room to shower.

Although she had officially moved into Shangtian Mansion, she and Zhou Dang were still sleeping in separate rooms.

Apart from that kiss at the hospital last time, their relationship hadn't progressed further.

Xuan Yang was still uncertain about how to adjust the distance with Zhou Dang.

It seemed that if Zhou Dang didn't take the initiative, things would stay the same between them.

The rain outside was heavy. Xuan Yang soaked in the bathtub, thinking about her relationship with Zhou Dang.

Actually, after that kiss at the hospital, she had talked to Xie Xinglan about it.

Xie Xinglan was very excited and eager to know how things had developed between them.

She had even been urging Xuan Yang to "eat Zhou Dang up."

But Xuan Yang had no experience with that kind of thing.

She had hardly even watched any adult videos, having devoted all her attention to studies and work.

Honestly, she wasn't particularly interested in that kind of thing.

But Zhou Dang, as a man in the prime of his youth, probably had different thoughts.

So Xuan Yang decided to stay put and see what Zhou Dang wanted.

Starting tonight, she planned to stop avoiding him because of this.

If Zhou Dang took the lead, she would go along with it.

Xuan Yang didn't let this thought linger long in her mind. After showering, she went straight to bed.

But as she was half-asleep, a sudden clap of thunder sounded outside.

At the same time, the violent rain and knocking on the door completely dispelled her drowsiness.

Xuan Yang opened her eyes and took a moment to orient herself in the dim bedroom.

The knocking continued.

Xuan Yang got out of bed and opened the door, confused.

Outside the guest room door, Zhou Dang in dark pajamas was holding a pillow and blanket, standing like a wooden pole.

The tall man's voice was clear but carried a hint of unease: "Wife, there's thunder."

Xuan Yang blinked, not understanding.

But Zhou Dang had already squeezed past her with his pillow and blanket, speaking with slight awkwardness: "Can I sleep on the floor in your room tonight?"
