Chapter 13: Countdown to Extreme Cold (2)

As soon as the thermal underwear touched her skin, a gentle warmth slowly spread, not the kind of dry heat, but like sunlight enveloping her body, seeping from her abdomen and limbs deep into her bones—truly magical.

"This is amazing. I only need to wear this at home." No need to layer sweaters and thick coral fleece pajamas, or even wear a down jacket when cold.

The system also refreshed a new quest.

[Beginner quest: Collect 100kg of thermal clothing.]

Lin Mo looked at the text on the screen and breathed a sigh of relief. This quest wasn't hard. A batch of thermal clothing had arrived last night, plus the down jackets and cashmere sweaters she already had at home—she should be able to meet the requirement quickly.

She immediately selected all the thick clothes at home, eagerly anticipating the quest's completion.

Unexpectedly, the system prompts rang out in succession. Most of the cashmere sweaters and thin down jackets showed "Material does not meet requirements, cannot be counted."

Lin Mo was stunned. So there were standards for thermal clothing? Unwilling to give up, she tested each piece one by one, finally finding that only the newly bought, extremely high-fill down jackets and down pants, as well as the thick snow boots, were recognized by the system.

[Collected 60kg of thermal clothing.]

She wanted to complete the quest as soon as possible, so she had to go to the mall to buy more.

Better to head straight to an outdoor supply store—the clothes there were more insulating and definitely met the system's requirements. Besides, she was planning to go to an outdoor store to buy a solar generator and solar lights anyway, so she could handle it all at once.

She took half a crispy duck as an early lunch, eating while waiting for the delivery. Halfway through, the wooden clothes rack with mirror, shelves, and other items arrived. The walnut-colored clothes rack was elegant, with a full-length mirror on the left and a row of hanging rods on the right.

"It can hold five or six clothes easily, and there are hooks on the outside of the rod for hanging a few towels." Below the hanging rod were two drawers with golden handles. Opening them, the space inside was decent, enough for underwear and socks.

She stored it all in the train to sort out later, and made a note in her phone memo for new towels and underwear.

Before long, the Meituan and Hema deliveries also arrived. Lin Mo opened the carrots and placed them one by one into the gaps of the first storage compartment's grids. The last grid was filled, and she closed the door with satisfaction.

The large refrigerator in the dining room was also filled a fair bit with juice, shrimp, and steak. The fridge was now filled with a variety of foods, giving a strong sense of security.

Now she could go out with peace of mind. Lin Mo put on a thin down jacket and headed out. As she left the building, the chill hit her, but she still felt warm. Wearing just the constant-temperature thermal underwear and a thin down jacket, she could withstand temperatures as low as 2-3 degrees Celsius. It was light and warm, no need for heavy sweaters, and she moved much more nimbly.

This high-tech system product was really amazing.

"Oh," just as she was about to get into the car, Lin Mo suddenly slapped her forehead and muttered in frustration, "I forgot to turn on the computer to download movies."

She paused for a moment but didn't turn back. Recently, she had been as busy as a spinning top, running nonstop from morning till night. When would she have time to sit in front of the computer and search for resources one by one? Better to save energy and hire someone to do it.

There was a telecom store 800 meters from the neighborhood where she had bought a USB drive before. Lin Mo stepped on the gas and drove over.

The shop door was half-open, and the young boss was playing a game. Hearing the noise, he reluctantly looked up and asked, "Hello, what do you need?"

"Boss, how much is a 1TB portable hard drive?" Lin Mo asked directly.

The boss pointed to a few models on the shelf: "Different brands have different prices. This one has the best value for money. Usually 550, I can give it to you for 500 each."

"500? That's a lot more than online." Lin Mo said. "Can you download content onto them?"

Doing this business, they had plenty of resources: "No problem. What do you want?"

"At least three hard drives. The more complete the content, the better. Popular American TV dramas, anime, Chinese dramas, and documentaries—all have to be included."

Novels were out—the boss's collection definitely wouldn't suit her tastes. She'd rather find those herself. Anyway, she didn't read harem or overly dramatic romance novels; she preferred suspense, survival, strong female leads, and no-romance stories.

"Okay, that's not hard. Why suddenly need so many?"

"I'm going abroad. Internet fees abroad are ridiculously expensive, and membership fees for various platforms cost extra."

"I get it! It's a ripoff there, and I hear the internet speed is super slow. How about this: three hard drives, I'll give them to you for 480 each. Let's add WeChat, and I'll call you when they're ready tomorrow."

"Alright, I'll transfer the money to you via WeChat now."
