She thought he would wait for her in the school clinic.
But he wasn’t there.
She asked the nurse, “Where’s the boy who was here just now?”
Although Shanfu explicitly forbade early romantic relationships, you could always spot a few couples on campus. It was obvious to anyone.
The nurse, seeing how attentive Chen Yiyang was, naturally assumed they were a couple. She was also confused, “I don’t know. That kid paid for you and left.”
She asked her colleague, then recalled, “Oh, right, he seemed concerned about whether your period would affect the tetanus shot…”
Before she could finish, the girl pressing her arm changed expression and ran out of the school clinic.
PE class was already over.
Yun Mi ran back to the classroom but didn’t see Chen Yiyang. She asked Ding Yuan, “Where’s Chen Yiyang?”
Ding Yuan was still worried about her. She pouted, “I don’t know. Why are you looking for that scumbag?”
Yun Mi glanced around at her classmates and left the classroom again. Suddenly, someone lightly bumped her shoulder.
The clean scent of soap was vaguely familiar.
The hot presence shattered her heartbeat.
Yun Mi spun around.
Chen Yiyang brushed past her, leaving only a lean, sharp figure.
She was about to call out, but someone beat her to it.
Xu Zhiyu nodded at Chen Yiyang, and they walked side by side.
Ding Yuan, worried about Yun Mi, ran out, “What’s wrong, Mimi? Are you feeling unwell again?”
Yun Mi’s heart felt uncomfortable.
She shook her head.
Ding Yuan glanced around casually and saw them, “Damn, that scumbag, messing with my goddess’s feelings again.”
She had heard gossip during PE in the restroom. Lowering her voice, she told Yun Mi, “I heard Xu Zhiyu wants Chen Yiyang to go to the hospital to see her grandma… maybe the old lady is ill and wants to meet her granddaughter’s boyfriend? Hey, they might get back together.”
Hearing the word “hospital,” Yun Mi couldn’t help recalling the nonsense the girls on the lawn had said.
She licked her dry lips, feeling suddenly stifled. Distractedly, she returned to her seat. The next class was physics. The teacher only dictated formulas and final results, skipping all intermediate steps, and never stayed beyond class. For the top students in the key class, he was an excellent teacher, but for Yun Mi, it was a disaster.
Yun Mi took out her study materials from her backpack. Suddenly, she caught sight of the pack of sanitary pads.
Last night, she had taken one for Xu Zhiyu, and the rest she had thrown carelessly into her bag.
Thinking of who had bought them, Yun Mi closed her eyes and violently shoved the green packaging into the deepest part of her desk drawer, stuffing her backpack in to block it. Out of sight, out of mind.
Yun Mi lay on her desk, looking down as she previewed the mechanics problems on the study sheet. The old wound on her hand ached faintly, and she felt irritated.
She saw the milk candy Chen Yiyang had given her, lying in her pencil case. Originally, she hadn’t wanted to eat it, but now she angrily unwrapped it and stuffed it into her mouth, chewing.
Her favorite candy—somehow, it wasn’t as sweet anymore.
It was even a bit bitter.
At the end of the hallway, Yun Mi saw Xu Zhiyu reveal a rare smile, light and shallow, as if winter snow were melting.
Yun Mi finally understood why seeing Chen Yiyang made her so restless.
It must be because she hated him.
Yeah, that was it.
She hated Chen Yiyang.

That, my friend, is a crush!
Mimi: Damn! Why didn't you say so earlier?
