Her heart felt squeezed, bitter and suffocating.
Back then, she was the top in her age group on the team, never overtaken because Yun Mi always improved.
But that was in the past.
Late at night, the mall was very quiet.
Yun Mi heard footsteps behind her and slowly turned around.
Seeing the person, she whispered, "Chen Yiyang, why did you take so long? So slow."
Chen Yiyang stared at the girl's slightly red nose. Her amber eyes seemed awkwardly shifting away.
In the glass window in front of her stood a giant pink rabbit with two red eyes, sitting there like an idiot.
Chen Yiyang felt that rabbit was about to cry too.
He raised an eyebrow and asked, "Been waiting long?"
"Mm."
It had only been three minutes. Chen Yiyang checked the time, snorted lightly, cursed "unreasonable" to himself, and said coldly, "Since it's been so long, then wait a little longer for your brother."
"???"
Chen Yiyang walked in another direction.
Yun Mi frowned: "Chen Yiyang?"
Did he just smirk?
Yun Mi wanted to follow, but the boy ahead waved his hand without looking back. "Stand still."
"..."
He has eyes on the back of his head.
Yun Mi wanted to get mad, but she kept her eyes fixed on Chen Yiyang, afraid he would ditch her.
She hadn't been in Shancheng long and wasn't familiar with the roads yet.
It wasn't safe at night.
Luckily, Chen Yiyang just slowly walked into the toy store called Cherub in front of her.
The boy stood at the counter, lifted his thin eyelids, and pointed in Yun Mi's direction. He said something—the salesgirl tilted her head to look at Yun Mi.
Yun Mi couldn't be bothered to look at him anymore.
Senior Sister messaged her again.
Senior Sister: The third-place prize for this commercial event is 5,000 euros. I'll transfer it to you, okay? Treat it as your competition.
Yun Mi blocked Senior Sister.
Suddenly, she heard a low, husky "Here."
Very soft, a youthful voice rippling through the dim space.
Yun Mi's eyelids fluttered.
Chen Yiyang, in black clothes and gray pants, was already in front of her, carrying a rabbit as tall as she was.
Yun Mi had no idea what drug Chen Yiyang had taken to buy such a big, pink rabbit. She averted her eyes uncomfortably and asked coldly, "Isn't two people enough for skiing? Why bring a stupid doll?"
Chen Yiyang didn't take offense at her calling it "stupid." His voice carried a laugh as he leaned down and said, "It looks like you."
"!!!"
In the darkness, Yun Mi saw Chen Yiyang's eyes at her level.
Mocking, yet indifferent.
Yun Mi was genuinely angry the moment she heard that.
What did he mean? She looked like this dumb rabbit?
But Chen Yiyang asked coldly, "And isn't it obvious?"
"What?" Yun Mi stood there, suddenly feeling the warm, soft embrace of the rabbit.
She blinked dazedly.
The huge embrace was as warm as a mother's.
The boy stood one step away. Yun Mi saw Chen Yiyang's thick eyelashes drooping, casting a faint shadow under his eyes.
He pushed the plush toy toward Yun Mi and said softly, "Bought to cheer you up."
Chen Yiyang saw the girl's rabbit-like eyes slowly widen. On her fair face, those moist amber eyes finally dispelled the tears, revealing a hint of shock and liveliness.
Chen Yiyang called her.
"Little crybaby."
