Chapter 20 Green Plum Fruit (3)

She turned away and said, "No."

Chen Yiyang remembered Yun Mi saying she wanted to get into Class One.

Hearing her denial, he relaxed his brows slightly.

Yun Mi stood in front of the large honor roll. The newly released monthly exam results were posted on the wall, with the top ten's photos prominently displayed.

Chen Yiyang was first.

Yun Mi grumbled inwardly: How is he everywhere?

Fuming, she turned to leave.

Suddenly, a slender, well-defined hand reached out. Chen Yiyang took a red paint marker from the chalk box in front of the honor roll.

With a nonchalant tone, he said, "You'll sit in this spot in the future."

Then, he casually drew two silly X's over his own eyes in the photo, and around those X's, he sketched an absurdly ugly cartoon rabbit.

Stroke by stroke, it covered his own face.

Yun Mi froze on the spot, staring blankly at the simple rabbit representing her.

He had guessed everything. He knew she had fallen from a very high place and that was why she was so sad.

Her heart ached, a mix of exhaustion and sorrow.

The words "Okay" and "Thank you" got stuck in her throat, never spoken.

Just then, a sharp voice cut through the air: "What are you two doing?"

The disciplinary director appeared out of nowhere, sharp-eyed, immediately spotting the graffiti on the honor roll. He rushed over and scolded, "Coming to school on Saturday to study, and you're defacing the honor roll?"

Yun Mi jumped in fright. She turned around and saw Chen Yiyang already striding away.

"..."

"Hey, that male student—what are you running for?"

The next second, the shout chased after her: "And that female student, stop right there!"

His voice was almost cracking.

Yun Mi was a step behind, so she could only panic and run forward, eventually sprinting desperately to catch up with Chen Yiyang.

She ran far, even though she was usually fit, she had to lean against the wall, panting heavily.

So angry—he hadn't waited for her.

She had almost been caught.

Burning with anger, she demanded, "Why didn't you wait for me?" She looked up at him, both angry and embarrassed, gritting her teeth: "Chen Yiyang, you're dead!"

The boy leaned against the wall, his cold eyes carrying a hint of amusement as he looked down. He was slightly out of breath, laughing softly.

Low and deep, a hearty laugh vibrating from his chest.

The wind rustled through the greenery under the eaves.

Yun Mi felt a tightness in her chest.

But somehow, meeting his gaze, she regretted scolding him.

Damn it.

She think she liked him even more.
