Chapter 15 Green Plum Fruit

Idiot

Yun Mi thought she would catch a cold, but surprisingly, when she woke up, her body felt much lighter.

"I've figured it out. Screw the sadness, grievances, and unhappiness. Whether it's Du Yun, Li Yun, or any other Yun, I've decided to help Xu Zhiyu all the way. I can't give up halfway."

During morning self-study, Ding Yuan was declaring her grand ambitions, and Yun Mi listened beside her.

She stealthily pulled out her phone from under the desk, a trace of worry passing over her calm face.

In the morning, her father's colleague texted that the flight was booked and he would fly back to Shanghai soon, but... his fever hadn't gone down yet.

It had been eighteen hours.

Ding Yuan let out a "Hey" and asked, "Mimi, are you okay? Didn't sleep well? Why the long face?"

Yun Mi smiled and said, "It's nothing. Maybe I've been pushing myself too hard the past few days."

She was very worried about her father but didn't show it on her face. Instead, she followed Ding Yuan's lead and asked, "So are you still going ahead with that play?"

Turning the topic back, Ding Yuan's face clouded with worry. She sighed, "Yeah, I need to find new actors."

The original ones had been scared off by Du Yun calling their parents and scolding them; they all quit.

"There's only one day left. Finding the right person is really hard..." Ding Yuan's gaze swept across the class, muttering, "I don't think anyone in the class is reliable. Maybe... Xie Yue?"

She crouched on her desk, hiding behind an English book, a look of distaste crossing her face. "Mimi, you brought your phone, right? Help me send him a message? I don't want to talk to that idiot."

Ding Yuan and Xie Yue were always quarreling, each finding the other unbearable. Kicking each other was the norm.

Yun Mi's attention was completely on the last few cursing words. Lost in thought, she hesitated and nodded.

After handing in the dictation paper, Yun Mi casually sent a gentle message.

Growing Up Well: Big idiot, Ding Yuan wants you to be in her play.

First period was math. Just as the bell rang, Du Yun pushed the door open with a stack of exam papers, slammed them onto the podium, and said, "I don't even want to talk about this exam! The average score is a full three points lower than I expected. Only nine people scored above 140! At this rate, you'll all fail the college entrance exam!"

Her perfectly combed head jerked to one side, her gaze landing on the person still buried at the desk next to Ding Yuan's. Her anger surged, and she let out a cold laugh: "Yun Mi, are you a groundhog, burrowing your head like that? Class has started. Do you think scoring 117 makes you so great that you can act all high and mighty? Fifth from the bottom in the whole class!"

Yun Mi had been waiting for a message—her father's colleague had promised to text her when the fever broke.

She looked up and, under Du Yun's glare, quietly retorted, "Teacher Du, groundhogs don't act high and mighty."

Flying squirrels do.

Her words were calm and simple, but the whole class burst into laughter.

Yun Mi had actually scored higher than Du Yun expected this time, so Du Yun just scolded, "Quibbling!" and said nothing more.

Yun Mi pretended to take notes for a while. Taking advantage of Du Yun scolding someone else, she checked her phone again. Still no news from her father.

Then she frowned.

The chat name she had just messaged seemed wrong.

She tapped to recall.

Message alert: Over two minutes, cannot recall.

"..."

Yun Mi resignedly closed her eyes, thinking, No way.

Xie Yue's WeChat ID was literally "Big Idiot," apparently something he changed during a game of Truth or Dare.

But it seemed she had sent the message to someone else.

Chen Yiyang was leaning back in his chair, listening lazily while doing his homework. His eyelids drooped, and the lines of his profile were cold and sharp. Suddenly, he heard Xie Yue's exaggerated voice from the front: "Yang Ge, what's going on? Am I seeing things? Is Da Yuan Zi staring at me?"

Chen Yiyang couldn't be bothered to look at him. He was somehow tired and snapped back, "You're ugly, so you attract attention."

Xie Yue turned back in anger, muttering loudly, "Chen Yiyang, are you asking for it!"

A cold voice came from the podium: "Xie Yue!"

A white piece of chalk hit Xie Yue perfectly. He turned around like a quail, trying to act cute.

Chen Yiyang curled his lips slightly, a faint smile crossing his eyes. He glanced aside and noticed someone staring at him.

The girl's eyes were wide, her whole body wrapped in the dark blue school uniform.

She looked furious.

She turned back. Chen Yiyang felt his phone vibrate lightly in his pocket.

Latest message: You didn't see that, okay?

Above that, one more.

"..."

Yun Mi was already worried about Yun Guanlan. This kind of thing only made her more annoyed. She forced herself to focus until class ended, but Chen Yiyang didn't reply.

Maybe he didn't care and wouldn't hold it against her.

Two consecutive math classes. Du Yun's lectures bombarded them like artillery, and smoke practically rose from Yun Mi's head.

When class ended, she went to ask Ding Yuan a question. Ding Yuan sat down and started freaking out about the school celebration program again.
