Yun Mi felt that math problems were really difficult. For an average student, understanding the basic logic of formulas to get a solid 120 points wasn't hard, but anything above 120 entered a bottleneck.
Zhou Shihui said that function problem required treating the logarithmic function ln[7x/(2-3x)] as a whole, defining it as g(x) to think about, simplifying the entire problem into a basic formula, dividing the range of x parameters, and exploring solutions in five cases within ten steps.
Yun Mi silently tugged at her backpack strap, lowered her eyes, and kicked a pebble.
What a damn problem.
And Chen Yiyang was also a damn jerk.
The entrance of Shanfu was bustling with students. Yun Mi spotted Chen Yiyang leaning against his bike in the crowd.
The boy was looking down at his phone. Yun Mi, indignant, kicked a pebble to his feet.
Chen Yiyang saw Yun Mi standing not far away. The girl met his gaze, then it seemed to turn a corner in the air, and she looked away impatiently.
"..."
Chen Yiyang finally understood. "Did I offend you?"
Yun Mi said softly, "No."
Then added, "How could that be?"
Yun Mi supplemented, "Not at all."
After a pause, she asked coldly, "What do you want to give me?"
She had said before she wanted to get into Class 1, but now it seemed hard to even maintain her previous grades.
Yun Mi had been in a bad mood ever since she received Xu Mingyi's text last time.
Her studies weren't going well either.
She was about to crumple her backpack strap.
Chen Yiyang raised an eyebrow, his hand with prominent wrist bones resting on the bike. He didn't mention the gift box; instead, he asked, "Did you figure out the problem Zhou Shihui taught you this afternoon?"
"..."
Yun Mi was angry. "If you don't want to chat, just say so."
It seemed she hadn't figured it out. Chen Yiyang said, "Want me to teach you?"
A low, magnetic teenage voice, a sentence with no inflection. Yun Mi looked away, gave a soft hum, and after a moment said, "...Not like I can't."
"Mm."
Chen Yiyang let out a soft sound, seemingly laughing.
He added another sentence, with a lazy, aloof, confident air: "Let's make a bet."
Chen Yiyang said, "If you make it into the top 500 this final exam and stay, I'll buy you a gift."
Yun Mi had been furious when she saw Chen Yiyang's threat "you're dead," but hearing this, her chaotic mood paused. She was stunned, looked up at Chen Yiyang. He no longer called himself "brother." He even said he would buy her a gift.
Yun Mi pouted and retorted, "Isn't that just giving it to me for free?"
Then asked in a low voice, "What's the highest price for the gift?"
Chen Yiyang found Yun Mi's tsundere look amusing.
The boy's jawline was smooth. He pressed his lips together slightly and then parted them to utter four words: "No upper limit."
"..."
Bragging.
But Yun Mi's expression turned from cloudy to partly sunny. She asked, "Then Chen Yiyang, what if I accidentally do really, really well and get into Class 1?"
She had told him long ago she wanted to get into Class 1. Chen Yiyang didn't care. His eyelids drooped as he asked, "What do you want?"
In the past few days, seeing so many girls like her "brother" had bothered Yun Mi.
People always like those who shine, and she was no exception.
She stopped walking. Her slightly frizzy, soft ponytail swayed in the breeze. "My old friends used to call me Mimi."
"Huh?"
Chen Yiyang responded instinctively, not understanding why she suddenly brought this up.
Yun Mi: "If I get into Class 1."
Hearing Yun Mi's next words, a trace of subtle fluctuation passed over Chen Yiyang's usually calm face.
A glimmer of cunning shone in Yun Mi's beautiful amber eyes. She smiled mischievously and wickedly, tilted her head, and on the summer evening school road, the girl drawled, "Can I call you Miemie?"
"..."
Yun Mi had changed Chen Yiyang's WeChat nickname twice.
At first it was "Big Villain," but later she confused Chen Yiyang's "Big Villain" with Xie Yue's "Big Idiot," so she changed it to "Annoying Jerk."
Now it had become "Chen Miemie."
She knew Chen Yiyang wouldn't like it.
