Chapter 4 Green Plum Fruit

Brother

Shanfu let out at 9:40. The school's outer wall connected to a narrow alley, with old houses crammed together, and students and parents clogged several nearby streets.

"Yun Mi, where do you live? Maybe we're on the same way."

After school, Yun Mi bought a can of yellow peach yogurt at 7-Eleven. She was biting the straw when Ding Yuan ran over and hugged her as she came down the slope. Ding Yuan felt guilty toward her. After figuring out the morning situation, she realized that yesterday noon Du Yun had asked her to pass on the test paper, but she had delayed until evening to get her phone from her parents, wasting Yun Mi's time. So she subconsciously tried to be nice to Yun Mi.

Yun Mi said Xingfuli.

Ding Yuan let out an "ah" and scratched her head. "East side? I remember someone else lives there too..."

Yun Mi's heart skipped a beat, thinking that the person Ding Yuan remembered couldn't be Chen Yiyang, could it?

She didn't want to be associated with Chen Yiyang, so she quickly said, "That area's pretty big."

Ding Yuan chuckled. "True."

The roads in front of the school were lined with snack stalls.

As the two girls were chatting, suddenly Yun Mi's jacket sleeve was tugged. Ding Yuan said, "Look at that... isn't that Chen Yiyang and Xu Zhiyu?"

Yun Mi was slightly startled. Under the banyan tree not far away, the boy's dark blue school uniform jacket was loosely draped over him, his bag slung over one shoulder, standing opposite a girl.

Xu Zhiyu handed out a kraft paper envelope.

That letter... was thin, probably a love letter.

Chen Yiyang's face was cold, his chin slightly raised. He didn't take it.

Ding Yuan blurted out "Holy crap," and sighed, "A cold beauty pines away with infatuation, while a domineering school scumbag heartlessly lets her down—" She couldn't stand it, and cursed fiercely, "Heaven's justice won't tolerate this, you jerk."

The light from the streetlamp scattered on her eyelids, a bit warm.

Yun Mi had been somewhat skeptical before, but now witnessing it firsthand, she bit down on her straw with a "click."

After being rejected, Xu Zhiyu was clearly unhappy and lowered her head. That jerk Chen Yiyang kept talking, and the more he spoke, the more sorrowful it became. Xu Zhiyu turned her face and wiped the corner of her eye with the back of her hand; it seemed she was crying. Could he be scolding her? The more Ding Yuan thought about it, the angrier she got. "No way, if you don't like her, just let it go. After rejecting her, just disappear. Why mess with her feelings?"

She rolled up her sleeves and was about to charge forward aggressively. Yun Mi anxiously pulled her back. "What are you going to do?"

Ding Yuan's eyes widened, her brows furrowed, and she glared coldly. "Teach him a lesson! What a piece of trash!"

Yun Mi lowered her voice, tugging her. "Xu Zhiyu clearly has strong self-esteem. Don't go—"

Ding Yuan let out an "ah" and wouldn't listen. In the push and pull, Yun Mi stumbled a bit and hit a nearby billboard.

The two standing under the tree looked over at the sound.

Under the streetlight, the girl was pretending to be calm, brushing non-existent dust off her pleated skirt.

Yun Mi looked up and met Xu Zhiyu's surprised gaze.

She had originally planned to smile, but paused, then tremblingly raised her hand and said, "Hello? What a coincidence, we meet again, classmate. I'm just passing by..."

She shifted her hand slightly and met the boy's gaze.

Chen Yiyang had clearly guessed something. His eyelids drooped, his gaze as cold as a judgment. His voice was flat. "Peeping?"

"..."

Yun Mi pursed her lips, her smile fading. She surrendered, her open palm silently clenching into a fist.

Too lazy to bother with formalities, she picked up her bag that had fallen to the ground and ran off.

Chen Yiyang chatted with Xu Zhiyu for a few minutes before they parted.

Yun Mi was on the sidelines, and Ding Yuan was still feeling awkward for her. "Damn, both of them stared at you at once. They're like detectives. They notice every little sound. How can they pinpoint it every time?"

Yun Mi crouched on the ground, searching her bag for tissues and White Rabbit candy. She pursed her lips, unhappy. Earlier that morning, Chen Yiyang had warned her to "not know him," and now she saw him bullying someone.

If she offended him, so be it. A person with such a bad temper—how could he not be offended?

Just now, when Xu Zhiyu looked over, she saw the tears on the girl's cheeks. Xu Zhiyu was truly sad.

Yun Mi prepared to go comfort her, but suddenly Ding Yuan poked her in the back. "Hey, Yun Mi."

"Huh?"

"Do you have a sanitary pad?"

Yun Mi looked up blankly. Ding Yuan frowned. "Xu Zhiyu seems to have gotten her period."

Yun Mi was startled. She didn't have one.

Wen Liangyu: If you have time, teach Xiao Mi how to study. I finally have a new daughter.

Chen Yiyang: No.

Chen Yiyang: Hire a tutor.

Chen Yiyang was walking his bicycle, waiting for someone. He casually checked his phone. On Wen Liangyu's WeChat Moments, there was a photo of her and her boyfriend in front of the Senior Translators' Institute.

The caption said, "Beautiful New Life."

Chen Yiyang zoomed in on the old man's left hand. The watch on his wrist was a Richard Mille, entry-level at about one hundred thousand.

Low-key, tasteful, probably not poor.
