Yun Mi instinctively turned back at the sound. Her gaze shifted and slammed straight into Chen Yiyang's dark, calm eyes.
The boy rode a silver-black bicycle. He had taken off his school jacket and tied it around his lean waist, wearing a simple black long-sleeve shirt and blue school pants. His black hair was pressed under a cap, and his thin lips curled with a lukewarm smile.
Seeing him, Yun Mi didn't know why, but her face burned. She muttered, "Why him?" then turned and quickened her pace.
But unexpectedly, a strong hand grabbed her schoolbag ruthlessly and pulled her back.
Yun Mi let out a "Hey" and was about to scold him for being rude, but when she turned around, she met Chen Yiyang's flawless, handsome face.
"..."
Chen Yiyang's face was cold, one foot on the concrete. He firmly caught the "deserter" before getting off the bike.
He tossed the bike aside.
There were fewer people here.
Yun Mi was annoyed, not knowing how the pest had shown up again.
Hadn't he gone home?
And wearing a cap, like he had just robbed a bank.
Yun Mi said quietly, "Don't touch me."
Chen Yiyang lifted his eyelids and asked, "Where are you running off to?"
Yun Mi didn't want to talk to him. "Of course I'm going home. Aunt Wen told me the housekeeper is back and cut some fruit for me as a late-night snack."
Mentioning the housekeeper, Chen Yiyang thought of this morning's incident.
Yun Mi turned to leave again.
Chen Yiyang had just pulled his black backpack from behind to his chest, ready to rummage, when he looked up and saw her turn away, not wanting to engage. His eyelids drooped as he coldly threatened, "If you leave now, I'll fire the housekeeper immediately. I'm the one paying her salary now."
"..."
Yun Mi loved sweets and fruit. Hearing this, she silently stopped.
The girl stopped fiercely, frowning, with a light snort of disdain. She was unconvinced and didn't turn around. She muttered under her breath, "No justice. Can't even let me eat fruit."
Chen Yiyang heard it and almost laughed, but his voice remained cold as he commented, "Only brave at home."
Yun Mi retorted, "Not as much as you. You made your ex-girlfriend cry."
In the dark night of Shancheng, the tree shadows were fragmented, and the smell of earth mixed with the spicy and aromatic scent of barbecue.
Chen Yiyang pressed on the girl's thin shoulders and turned her around. Yun Mi was suddenly pulled close.
The bus honked loudly, the noise echoing between buildings, completely covering the boy's surprised reply. "What ex-girlfriend?"
Yun Mi met Chen Yiyang's gaze.
Some Shanfu students passed by, seemingly chatting about gossip. Their eyes swept over. Chen Yiyang lowered his head, silently took off his cap, and put it on Yun Mi's head.
He had quite a bit of strength, pressing her head down.
Yun Mi was indignant.
A small grove away was the city light rail. The noise was too loud. Yun Mi clenched her fists, looked up, and glared at him in reflex. The light rail roared past, causing a moment of tinnitus.
Chen Yiyang handed her a bag.
The boy's faint, clean scent of cold soap, mixed with the heavy smell of camphor and dried mint leaves, blended with the heat and restlessness of his body.
In the spot where she looked up, there was a pair of cold, rogue-like dark eyes.
Yun Mi's heart skipped a beat, and her eyes flew wide open.
She could hear his breathing.
The boy's fine hair, pressed by the cap, was scattered. Chen Yiyang let out a light scolding laugh, but his voice was noticeably lower than before.
He said, "Buy this kind of thing yourself from now on. Do you really take me for your brother?"
