Chapter 30 (3)

Back then, Chu Lulin had mistaken Zhang Fan for her ex-boyfriend, but after finding out he wasn’t, he came up with this hand-holding rule.

“It’s not what you think,” Jian Ran explained. “I don’t have any such rule.”

In public or in private—although their relationship wasn’t official, it was still different from a secret affair.

At least they were morally superior.

“Then why?”

Jian Ran couldn’t explain herself, so she just pouted. “It’s a secret!”

Chu Lulin raised an eyebrow, as if remembering something, and looked at her teasingly.

Jian Ran was bewildered. “What?”

Chu Lulin’s lips curled. “Sister has lots of secrets.”

“Huh?” Jian Ran looked confused.

What was he talking about? When did she have lots of secrets?

Seeing she didn’t remember, Chu Lulin just smiled and shook his head, unwilling to elaborate.

“Nothing.”

Jian Ran was baffled.

Thanks to his diversion, she forgot about pulling her hand away. So, they walked hand in hand all the way.

The unpleasant stares also decreased. Chu Lulin was satisfied.

After crossing a traffic light, they soon reached the parking spot.

Coincidentally, today was just the day for giving gifts. Even though it couldn’t be considered a birthday present, it was still better than showing up empty-handed on such an occasion.

Jian Ran took the items out of the trunk and handed them to Chu Lulin.

“The suit I promised you.”

Chu Lulin took the bag and saw the logo, confirming it was the same brand as the one he had worn that day.

Before he could react, Jian Ran proudly pulled out another gift bag. Opening it, she revealed the watch.

“And this.”

Chu Lulin was slightly startled, looking at the expensive watch in front of him. A trace of helplessness flickered in his eyes.

Jian Ran clearly hadn’t known it was his birthday today. Suddenly giving him such a valuable gift could only mean one thing.

She was essentially giving him an allowance.

“I specially chose it at the mall. The moment I saw it, I felt it was perfect for you,” Jian Ran said, her eyes bright with anticipation.

“So? Do you like it?”

Hearing that she had chosen it specially for him, Chu Lulin was moved. “I like it very much. Thank you, Sister.”

A smile spread across his face, reaching his eyes. “But you spent too much.”

Seeing that he didn’t refuse, Jian Ran was delighted. She knew she had chosen the right gift.

She raised her chin proudly. “It’s nothing.”

“Didn’t I tell you? I won’t treat you unfairly.”

Having indulged in the thrill of being a sugar mommy splurging, she was thoroughly satisfied.

“Oh, and about today being your birthday—I really overlooked that. I’ll make up for the birthday gift later.”

Chu Lulin shook his head helplessly, saying he had already received two gifts today and didn’t need another.

But Jian Ran insisted they were separate matters.

Chu Lulin pondered for a moment. “Then how about Sister grants me a birthday wish?”
