No One Can Save You
“Aren’t you on leave? Why are you at work?”
Jiang Ruoqi had taken two days off. With the department head absent, her subordinates had loosened up a bit. Near clock-in time, after swiping in, some were buying breakfast, others coffee—cubicles still empty. Only Duan Jinchen, that young master, was obediently slumped at his desk outside Jiang Ruoqi’s office, staring into space.
He was brooding over something, checking his phone, putting it down in disappointment, then turning to look at the empty office, and finally burying his head to continue daydreaming.
He thought he’d have to wait until next week, or use work as an excuse to nag Jiang Ruoqi. But then a breeze brushed past him, and the familiar scent of someone’s perfume made him snap his head up.
