Chapter 1 (2)

Ye Qingli dragged her suitcase and waited until the crowd thinned before entering.

Her seat was randomly assigned, but she didn't expect it to be by the window. She walked over and found someone sitting in her seat.

From the build, it was a guy, wearing a beanie and a windbreaker. The outfit looked trendy. He was sitting cross-legged, looking down at his phone.

Ye Qingli frowned. The figure in front of her seemed familiar.

Before she could think it through, the person sitting took off his beanie.

His hair was flattened by the hat. The guy shook his head, grabbed his hair, and pushed it back, revealing high brow bones. Noticing someone standing still in front of him, he looked up.

Ye Qingli was stunned when she saw his face.

The young man had deep-set eyes with upturned outer corners. He tilted his head slightly, his jawline delicate and smooth, his expression distant and cold.

In her impression, Xiao Yu looked at everyone as if they were dogs.

It was the same now, his eyes full of contempt and disdain.

If it were a friend, that might be fine, but they had never even spoken. Ye Qingli was stung by his sudden sharpness. She didn't think she had offended him in any way.

Besides, she hadn't seen him at the station earlier.

Maybe there were too many people.

Ye Qingli met his eyes: "This is my seat. Please move."

The girl's face was cold, and her tone was equally cold.

Xiao Yu turned his head, withdrawing his gaze from appraising her. He glanced at his watch: "I'm getting off soon."

"This is my seat. You can sit here for a while." With that, he gestured to the empty seat next to him.

Ye Qingli finally understood—he was forcefully trying to swap seats with her.

She wanted to argue, but someone pushed her from behind.

People were packed in close quarters. An auntie stepped on her heel. Just as she was about to turn and apologize, her eyes caught the empty seat in front of her, and she smiled: "Young lady, this seat—"

Before the auntie could finish, Ye Qingli sat down immediately.

The next second, she heard a snicker from her left and an exasperated sound from her right.

She didn't know what was so funny. Ye Qingli turned to ask him: "When do you get off?"

Xiao Yu leaned against the window, playing on his phone. He glanced at the time: "Three hours, get off at 3:50."

"..." She thought he was going to fool around.

He was also going to school.

Unbelievable.

The journey was extremely uncomfortable.

The aisle was crowded with people, mostly with backpacks. Every time someone passed by to use the bathroom, people had to make way, and their backpacks would brush against her face.

Ye Qingli looked at the person inside, who was sleeping soundly, and anger welled up inside her.

It was clearly her seat.

Now she could barely use her phone, let alone sleep.

She really wanted to punch him.

But she had heard that Xiao Yu had a violent temper, so she didn't dare wake him up and argue.

Frustrated, Ye Qingli could only glare at him weakly.

Sleep, sleep, sleep your head off.

Just then, Xiao Yu woke up.

Ye Qingli: "..." Why did he wake up all of a sudden?

He had stayed up all night playing games and was very tired, with extra creases on his eyelids, but now he couldn't seem to fall back asleep.

He straightened his curled-up body, his unfocused eyes slowly gaining focus. He stared at her, as if seeking an explanation.

Caught in the act, Ye Qingli lost her earlier courage. Like a startled puppy, she quickly lowered her head.

"Glaring at me?" Xiao Yu was not good at beating around the bush, asking bluntly.

"You're seeing things." Ye Qingli pursed her lips, not admitting it.

But his cold face was too intimidating; the air around them seemed to freeze.

"Actually, I was doing eye exercises." She made up another excuse.

Xiao Yu was so angry he laughed, curling his lips: "Do you think I'm stupid? What eye exercise requires glaring?"

"It's... to make eyes bigger."

Ye Qingli suppressed the guilt in her eyes and looked straight at him, hoping to appear more credible.

But next second, Xiao Yu reached into his pocket for his phone: "Fine, let me check."

"..."

His tone seemed to say, if I find out you're lying, you're dead.

I'll dig your eyes out.

Xiao Yu's fingers moved quickly, typing in the search. He wanted to see how she would explain. But the search results showed that glaring really did have the effect of making eyes appear larger.

Ye Qingli breathed a sigh of relief: "See, that's what it says online. We don't know each other, why would I randomly glare at you?"

Xiao Yu's mind was still clear: "Didn't I take your seat?"

You son of a bitch, you know that.

And you still did such a shitty thing.

Of course, that was just Ye Qingli's inner thought. She wasn't stupid enough to court death.

Outwardly, she was magnanimous: "It's fine. You've already sat down, we're almost at the station, no need to switch back."

"I never said I'd switch with you."

Xiao Yu didn't appreciate her kindness at all.

"..."

After that, neither spoke until they reached the station.

The train's broadcast played a mechanical female voice: "Ladies and gentlemen, the train is approaching Xi Zhou South Station. Please gather your belongings and get off in an orderly manner."

Ye Qingli smiled as she made way for him, putting on a docile expression.

Xiao Yu stood up. The height difference immediately created a sense of pressure, making the two contrast sharply, like a big bad wolf and a little white rabbit.

Ye Qingli couldn't handle it and stepped back against the seat behind her. Xiao Yu looked at her, his eyes sharp.

"You're quite fake."

"And your eyes are too small. Do you like eyes like a donkey's?"
