Chapter 20

Almost all of Shi Wenli's bedding was dark-colored; the light gray sheet in his hand was already the lightest shade.

The quilt on her bed at home was the same color as the bed curtains—satin cherry blossom pink.

Before making the bed, he turned to look at her: "I see your bed is all soft colors. My quilt is dark; you might not be used to it. How about I go get your quilt and sheets?"

Xu Qinghe wasn't that particular: "No need, I even use the blankets in the hospital on-call room."

She bent down to help remove the original sheet.

Shi Wenli had just spread out the light gray sheet when he suddenly realized something and paused.

Xu Qinghe stood on the other side of the bed, her hand already reaching out to take the sheet and make the bed together.

Seeing him not move, she asked in confusion, "What's wrong?"

Shi Wenli gave an apologetic smile: "I was so busy today that when I grabbed it, I only thought that this sheet had been used by me." It was clean, but still, he had used it.

There were unopened four-piece sheet sets at home, but none had been washed yet.

Sheets were different from other items.

Even more likely to cause overthinking than her giving him a sweater.

"I don't have new ones for you to use, don't mind."

"...It's fine, I'm not a stranger who insists on new ones. This one is fine."

Both pretended to be nonchalant.

He probably thought nothing of it at first, so he brought it directly. Maybe he suddenly realized they had only been dating for a few days, and giving her his used sheet wasn't quite appropriate.

Xu Qinghe extended her hand again toward him, acting as if nothing was wrong: "Give me a corner."

Shi Wenli confirmed the head and foot of the sheet and handed her a corner.

Xu Qinghe rarely made the bed; occasionally when her mother changed the sheets and she happened to be off, she would help out.

Even though she could draw up medication quickly and steadily, she wasn't quick at tasks she seldom did.

Before she could even tuck in the sheet at the head of the bed, Shi Wenli came over: "Let me do it."

Xu Qinghe straightened up and stepped back a little.

On the nightstand was a silver-gray massage gun. She picked it up casually.

"Do you usually use a massage gun?"

"Occasionally. Jiang Yang gave it to me."

"..."

Jiang Yang was pretty thoughtful.

Xu Qinghe turned it on and relaxed the muscles in her arm: "It feels quite comfortable."

Seeing that he had finished making the bed, she aimed the massage gun head at his shoulder.

With a low "buzzzzzz," his shoulder vibrated along with her palm.

It was most comfortable for massaging leg muscles.

But now, she and he weren't at that level of intimacy yet.

Actually, even massaging his shoulders already seemed a bit intimate.

Before Shi Wenli turned to look at her, she pulled the massage gun back and pressed it against her own arm.

The buzzing vibration just drowned out her heartbeat.

Shi Wenli turned to look at her: "Use this one for now; I'll buy you another one."

"No need to buy."

Xu Qinghe lowered the intensity a notch, "I have one at home, but I usually don't have time to use it. You should use it more often; your surgeries are always so long."

As she spoke, she pressed the massage gun against his shoulder again.

This time, even though he was looking at her, she didn't move it away.

"How long does it take for this to be effective?"

Shi Wenli said, "About one to two minutes per area, not too long."

"What do you want for breakfast tomorrow?" he asked.

"I want potato shred pancakes."

"Okay, that's simple." Shi Wenli also mentioned drinks, "I'll squeeze you some juice; drinking milk every day can get boring."

"Alright."

Xu Qinghe looked down at the massage gun in her hand. When about a minute had passed, she moved it away. "After you get off work in the future, I'll help you relax for a few minutes. Sometimes I'm too lazy to use it myself."

Shi Wenli said, "I really don't remember to use it."

He brought the quilt from the windowsill and laid it out for her.

Xu Qinghe quickly turned off the massage gun and wanted to do it herself.
