Cheng Yuan rubbed his brow. "Yeah, let's go."
On the way, he called Jiang Xiao, but she didn't answer. He sent a WeChat message, but she didn't reply.
Actually, he used to do this all the time. During the years they were together, he often ignored her calls and messages.
Even if he saw them, he wouldn't reply.
He couldn't say exactly why—he just couldn't be bothered.
Or maybe because it came too easily, he didn't know how to cherish it.
Since Jiang Xiao didn't answer, Cheng Yuan called Shen Yue. She picked up quickly. "Hello, who is this?"
"It's me," Cheng Yuan said. "Is Xiao Xiao with you?"
"You?" Shen Yue realized who it was only after a moment. Her eyes widened. "Cheng Yuan."
"Yes."
"What do you want?"
"Where's Xiao Xiao?"
"I don't know," Shen Yue said. "Even if I did, I wouldn't tell you."
Jiang Xiao hated Cheng Yuan, and so did Shen Yue. "I'm telling you, Cheng Yuan, stay away from our Xiao Xiao. She's not the same person she was back then. She's successful now, better than all those socialites. You're not worthy of her!"
"Give her the phone. I want to talk to her." Cheng Yuan heard Jiang Xiao's voice in the background, cheerful, as if she was celebrating something.
Shen Yue patted Jiang Xiao's shoulder and whispered, "It's Cheng Yuan."
Jiang Xiao took the phone. "What?"
"Where are you?" Cheng Yuan said gently. "Tell me, and I'll come to you."
"Haven't you had enough of watching my blind dates last night?" Jiang Xiao chuckled. "Want to see more?"
"You went on another blind date tonight?" Cheng Yuan's jaw tightened. "Didn't you promise to give me a chance?"
"Giving you a chance doesn't mean I can't explore other options," Jiang Xiao sneered. "What? You didn't think I'd hang myself on you alone, did you? Cheng Yuan, I'm not that naive."
"Jiang Xiao." Cheng Yuan's heart felt as if it were being gouged out, pain spasming through his entire body. The hand holding the phone trembled. "Are you trying to torture me?"
"This is torture for you?" Jiang Xiao laughed louder. "If this is torture, then what was what you did to me before? Humiliation?"
"I'm sorry." Cheng Yuan coaxed gently. "Tell me where you are. I'll come to you."
"Don't forget, the initiative is mine," Jiang Xiao warned. "If you break your word again, the agreement is void. Get lost far away."
"Beep, beep, beep." Jiang Xiao hung up.
Cheng Yuan dialed again, but her phone was off.
He called Jiang Yu. "Find out where the missus is."
Jiang Yu replied, "Right away."
Soon, Jiang Yu found Jiang Xiao's location and sent it to Cheng Yuan.
Meanwhile, Xu Cong called. "Are you coming or not?"
Cheng Yuan: "Not coming. I'm busy."
"What are you busy with so late?"
"Chasing after my wife."
Cheng Yuan urged the driver to go faster. The driver was sweating nervously. "President Cheng, any faster and we'll be speeding."
Jiang Xiao didn't know Cheng Yuan was coming for her. She was having a great time with a few young hunks. The boys were good-looking, had great bodies, and had sweet mouths, calling her "Sister" every other word.
Shen Yue patted Jiang Xiao's shoulder. "Pretty good, right?"
Jiang Xiao nodded. "Not bad."
"Pick whichever you like and take them home," Shen Yue said with a smile. "They're all yours tonight."
They just sang and danced; Jiang Xiao didn't plan anything else. "So many? I can't handle that."
"Many? Not at all." Shen Yue hiccupped. "Men can fool around, so why can't we women have fun too? Hmph, we'll have our fun too."
"What are you standing around for? Dance with your sister."
The group replied, "Yes, sister."
When Cheng Yuan arrived, the eye-stinging scene was in the dance hall: several men dancing hotly around one woman.
The moves were too lewd to watch.
Cheers and applause surrounded them.
"Great dancing! Great dancing!"
Jiang Xiao was surrounded, her eyes glazed, the smile on her face growing. She had talent for dancing since childhood; her parents praised her. Her teacher also said she was good. Only one person.
Every time she danced, all she got was his belittlement.
"Don't forget you're Mrs. Cheng. Wiggling around all day, aren't you embarrassed?"
