Chapter 22 Spring Night (2)

If it were just Jiang Xiao, Jiang Yu wouldn't have frowned, but there was a man with her. Judging by how they were serving each other food, their relationship seemed unusual.

His heart skipped a beat as he looked at Cheng Yuan and instinctively said, "President Cheng, our seats are upstairs. Maybe..."

Before Jiang Yu could finish, Cheng Yuan turned and walked down the stairs, heading forward.

Zhao Kai was very gentlemanly. After answering the questions, the food arrived, and he first served Jiang Xiao. "You like ribs, don't you? Try them."

Jiang Xiao nodded. "Thank you, Senior."

Shen Yue bit her chopsticks and watched them, grinning from ear to ear. "We're all friends, why be so polite?"

"Hey, Xiao Xiao, Senior Zhao gave you some food. Shouldn't you return the favor?"

Under the table, Shen Yue kicked Jiang Xiao. Jiang Xiao looked at her speechlessly. Shen Yue blinked, signaling her to act quickly.

Jiang Xiao picked up her chopsticks and served Zhao Kai some shrimp.

Zhao Kai: "Thanks."

"By the way, the red wine is good." Shen Yue poured a glass for each of them. "I brought it from home. Try it."

Zhao Kai raised his glass. "To you."

Jiang Xiao also raised hers. "Cheers."

Just as the atmosphere was pleasant, someone stood by the table, unmoving like a statue.

Shen Yue looked up and, seeing it was Cheng Yuan, immediately frowned. "President Cheng, what are you doing here?"

Cheng Yuan invited himself and sat directly beside Zhao Kai, facing Jiang Xiao. "What do you do in a restaurant? Eat, of course."

Shen Yue knew he was there to eat. She was asking why he was at their table. "We're discussing something. Please leave."

"I'm not here for you." Cheng Yuan said. "I'm here for Xiao Xiao."

"Xiao Xiao doesn't want to talk to you." Shen Yue said coldly. "Go away."

Jiang Xiao didn't want to be the center of attention. She said softly, "I already told you last time. We have nothing to say. President Cheng, please leave."

"Nothing to say to me, but everything to say to him?" Cheng Yuan pointed at Zhao Kai and asked Jiang Xiao, "Xiao Xiao, you're so biased."

Since they met again, Jiang Xiao only felt that Cheng Yuan was mentally ill, and seriously so.

"Cheng Yuan, we're divorced."

"Divorced couples can remarry. " Cheng Yuan said. "We can remarry today."

Jiang Xiao had completely lost her appetite. She threw down her chopsticks. "What exactly do you want?"

"I want to talk to you. " Cheng Yuan said. "Can we?"

People started looking over, and whispers could be heard. Jiang Xiao stood up. "Talk? Fine, I'll talk to you."

Seeing her about to leave, Zhao Kai stood up and blocked her. "Xiao Xiao."

Jiang Xiao said gently, "Senior, I'm sorry. We'll catch up another time."

Hearing they had arranged for another time, Cheng Yuan wasted no time grabbing Jiang Xiao's wrist and pulling her toward a secluded area.

Jiang Xiao struggled. "Cheng Yuan, let go of me."

Shen Yue caught up. "Cheng Yuan, where are you taking Xiao Xiao? Let her go!"

Jiang Yu stepped in to block her. "Miss Shen, this is a private matter between President Cheng and the missus. Please don't interfere excessively."

"Missus? Xiao Xiao is not!"

"Whether she is or isn't, it's not for you to decide."

Jiang Yu signaled someone, and Zhao Kai was also stopped.

Helplessly, they watched as Jiang Xiao was pulled out of the restaurant and into the Maybach.

Jiang Xiao wasn't afraid to come; she showed it by slapping Cheng Yuan the moment she got in the car. "Cheng Yuan, you're just asking for a beating."

In all of Jingbei City, who dared to hit Cheng Yuan or speak to him in such a tone? Only Jiang Xiao.

Cheng Yu, being hit, didn't sour his mood; instead, he seemed somewhat pleased. He leaned in again, offering his other cheek. "Had enough? If not, keep going."

He grabbed Jiang Xiao's hand and slapped his own face.

One slap, two slaps, three slaps...

After five slaps, he stopped.

Both of Cheng Yuan's cheeks bore bright red handprints. Because he'd hit too hard, blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.

He looked utterly pathetic.

Like a stray dog by the roadside.

Or even more pitiful than a stray dog.

He played weak. "Xiao Xiao, you can punish me however you want, but please don't ignore me."

The once-arrogant man now begged like a little pug, his eyes red and misty, his voice soft and gentle.

He dared not grip tightly, only held loosely, yet afraid she would run away, he curled his fingers instinctively. "I know I've done many things that hurt you. Go ahead, get your revenge one by one, okay?"
