During the idle chatter, two hours quietly passed. Lin Yi walked over to the clay vat to check. The liquid inside had settled into layers: the upper layer was a clear, light brown syrup, while the lower layer had a grayish-brown sediment. She nodded, signaling that the next step could proceed.
"Now, mix the yellow clay powder with the plant ash water to make a uniform and fine yellow clay slurry," Lin Yi instructed, demonstrating. "Once mixed, slowly pour it into the upper light brown syrup. Stir gently, in one direction, to fully combine them."
Zhao Li and two others immediately followed suit, moving cautiously. After the yellow clay slurry was mixed with the light brown syrup, the liquid darkened slightly, turning into a murky brownish-yellow.
"Alright, now we wait," Lin Yi said, looking at the mixed liquid and then up at the sky. The sun was already starting to sink westward. Another two or three hours of waiting would be needed, and it was clear they wouldn't finish all the steps today. "Zhao Li, I'll leave this vat in your care. There's no need to do anything special—just make sure no debris falls in and no one knocks it over. We'll head back to the mansion today and return tomorrow."
Zhao Li quickly bowed in acknowledgment: "Rest assured, Madam. I will take good care of it."
