After the temporary camp was set up that evening, the soldiers immediately busied themselves in an orderly manner: marking areas, digging trenches, building barricades, and pitching tents. Soon, a well-organized camp appeared before Lin Yi's eyes.
Late into the night, Lin Yi and Gu Fang were chatting in the central tent when they heard a report from outside that someone was requesting an audience. Gu Fang rose and lifted the tent flap, pausing for a moment before stepping aside and saying in a low voice, "Please come in."
Lin Yi looked up and was surprised to see Huang Xining, whom she hadn't seen in months. Ever since he decided to train thirty medical students before the campaign, the few fellow townsmen had rarely seen him. Even though they had been traveling together for five days, with him staying in the government office and Huang Xining in the warehouse, they never ran into each other.
A smile appeared in Lin Yi's eyes as she teased lightly, "Long time no see, Dr. Huang. What made you come over?"
Huang Xining's expression remained calm, his tone steady: "I came to deliver insect repellent."
