After listening, Chen Tian readily agreed. Lin Yi led him to the stone table in front of the house, where they both sat down. She explained, "Uncle Chen, it's like this: I have a subordinate who is quite talented in agriculture. I've discussed many rice hybridization techniques with him. He has great ideas, and I intend to let him accomplish this great feat. But he hasn't found a male sterile plant yet, and I'm about to leave for the Northern Frontier. I'm worried that after he finds the wild abortive plant, without guidance, he'll take many detours. So could you please help oversee things?"
Chen Tian paused slightly, then smiled warmly. "Of course. Rice hybridization? This is truly a wonderful undertaking. If successful, it would be an immense merit. As Chen, I will do my utmost to help."
"Ahem," Lin Yi shifted subtly, lowering her head slightly, and asked hesitantly, "I wonder how familiar you are with rice hybridization techniques."
Chen Tian's gaze drifted for a moment, then he said with a hint of nostalgia, "As luck would have it, I do know a thing or two about rice hybridization. I'm also somewhat familiar with distant hybridization of wheat. After all, that achievement was so sensational and great back then. As archaeologists, we were curious and looked up a lot of materials, learning about their experimental processes."
