Chapter 76

That night, the group didn't return to Manhattan until around eight or nine in the evening.

As soon as Jenny got home, she went to the dressing room to change out of her evening gown and took the dog to show Katie, who was staying in the guest room. Although Katie was young and not very worldly, she more or less understood the relationship between her sister and the master of the house; Jenny hadn't hidden it from her.

Recently, Jenny had been busy with work, and Katie had spent the last few weekends being taken out by the butler and others. Katie was already getting used to it. Tonight, Katie was about to go to sleep when a little puppy suddenly appeared. She happily played with it for a while, but soon became too tired to continue. Then her sister said she wanted to sleep in the guest room with her tonight.

Katie was a bit puzzled. She rarely saw her sister's lover in the house and didn't know what their relationship was like. She only knew that the gentleman gave her sister whatever she asked for—at least, that's what the servants said. So she felt quite at ease living there, never feeling awkward. But seeing the current situation, she guessed her sister was in a bad mood, probably after a quarrel with someone. Katie graciously offered half of her guest room for Jenny to stay in.
