Two days later.
Eliot sat in his office, accepting the letter Jenny had delivered. Bain had written a note requesting a meeting with Eliot. He had come up with an outline and wanted Eliot to help him refine it, suggesting they meet the next day.
In the office, after reading the note and confirming it was Bain's handwriting, Eliot immediately stood up, looked at Clare, and beckoned him over.
"I said before that whoever could get the author to meet me would become my new assistant. Jenny has done it. She is now assistant editor. Take her to register, and also inform William to come see me when he returns."
After speaking, Eliot calmly drank a large cup of coffee, wrote out a transfer order by hand, and stamped it with his seal.
