Martha's exchange meant using this secret as leverage to get Jenny to write her a letter of recommendation. With this letter of guarantee, even if she was dismissed from Dawling, she could still find work at other publishing houses or move to another city—at least it would allow her to continue living after the divorce.
"Although Martha wants to leave, things are different outside of Dawling. If she can stay, it's better to let her stay in the end," Monique said to Jenny.
Jenny fetched some letter paper and envelopes, wrote a fairly sincere letter of recommendation, sealed it in an envelope, and handed it to Monique. "Give this to her for me. Keep paying her medical bills, and hire two more guards to watch over her at the hospital in case someone gives her trouble. Come to me if you run out of money."
After arranging everything, Jenny pondered the matter. Since she wanted to stir things up, she couldn't directly tell the boss about it. So she took the accusation letter to Mr. Densite.
