After the meeting, the scorching sunlight outside the window reached its peak. The crowd filed out of the conference room one after another.
Jenny walked at the back, following Densite and the boss back to the office. She turned her head and gave Emme and Cowens a look. Only then did they leave with relief.
During the meeting, Cowens hadn’t only answered the boss’s initial questions. When the boss unexpectedly asked about other things—such as how he interacted with authors and guided their creative process—Cowens had also answered, breaking down the three steps of collaborating with authors.
First, analyze the person to see if they have a sense of control over the story. Second, examine the story’s style and quality. Third, assess the author’s personality. After judging the first two, tailor your words to the author’s character.
At that point, the boss asked him whether he had figured this out himself or been taught.
Cowens honestly said that this procedure was something Jenny had taught him a few months ago when she handed over work to him.
After hearing that, the boss didn’t say anything else, just praised his good work and moved on to the next item.
Jenny returned to the office to finish up the leftover tasks. At noon, she went out to find Emme for lunch and asked how Finney had reacted after the meeting.
