Chapter 64

The early autumn morning was exceptionally cool. Sitting by the window in the office, one could see leaves dancing on the street corner.

"Jenny, should we send someone upstairs to find out what's going on?"

Giddy was brewing tea in the office and turned to speak to Jenny across the aisle. The two cubicles behind her were empty—both secretaries had gone upstairs for the meeting. With the door closed up there, no one knew exactly what was happening.

"Mr. Dawling didn't come; he sent his senior secretary. I don't think the boss intends to strike hard just yet."

Even she felt it hadn't reached that point. Giddy's expectations waned. "Ah, I was hoping those guys downstairs would leave a big hole for me to fill."

"The news service department is a bloody place. If the boss dares to send you, would you dare to stay?" Derby said as he passed by.

"Management—it's inherently advantageous for me. It's better than being the one ordered around."
