Early the next morning.
Last night, Jenny had washed up and thrown herself under the covers, sleeping fitfully. Her mind was a jumble, but she had sorted out some clues. She woke up before dawn.
Before she could even step out the door, Emme slipped into her room to report the news she had gathered.
"Last night, Mrs. Eliot packed up her things and took the children back to her home in the Upper East Side. Mr. Eliot himself talked with the boss until late before leaving."
"According to the secretary, the boss finally decided to put Eliot on extended leave. He hasn't decided whether to take serious action yet. What are we going to do?"
Emme sighed after speaking, clutching Jenny's arm, afraid of being implicated.
Jenny thought for a moment.
"If this matter is investigated thoroughly, it will definitely be revealed that Clare set it up deliberately to trap Mrs. Eliot. Otherwise, how could everything be so coincidental? Why would she only threaten Clare to cooperate and not me? And Clare waited until Mrs. Eliot had already spent the bribe money at home, making it impossible for Mr. Eliot to clear his name, before reporting it. I don't believe the boss can't see through it."
