As deep winter approached, Manhattan saw consecutive heavy snowfalls, even hindering horse-drawn carriages. Fortunately, the residence was not far from the Dawling Building. The city sent workers to clear the snow from early morning, and by dawn a clean road could be seen.
The business, printing, and distribution departments were all severely weakened after the split, mainly due to a shortage of employees.
