Chapter 65

Just as Huangfu Jun was about to get closer to the frail girl, the view before her—like the surface of a calm lake—suddenly rippled as if stirred by an unseen hand. The scene twisted and distorted, then shattered and dissipated in the blink of an eye, leaving only boundless darkness in its wake.

Huangfu Jun's expression shifted abruptly. Her breath caught for a moment, then she forcefully exhaled, as if an invisible pressure had been constricting her. She felt bewildered and, upon reflection, slightly alarmed. She turned to Bai Lin. "Captain Bai, did you see that too? What was that? Was it an illusion cast by a demon to confuse me, or the real memories of the trapped humans?"

Bai Lin's eyes were clearly unaffected by the darkness. He silently returned her gaze, which had instinctively sought confirmation from him. His jet-black pupils glimmered eerily in the dark depths of the sea, and his expressionless face made him look like a cold, deep pool emanating chill.

After a pause, Huangfu Jun asked in a strained voice, "Could that girl be the one who's been trapped for three days, with no one knowing if she's alive or dead?"
