You can't imagine the luxury of the monster dormitory. He looked straight at Zheng...
Since both hands were occupied, Huangfu Jun leaned slightly and bumped the door with her elbow.
The person inside heard the noise and replied, "Come in."
Huangfu Jun pushed the door open with her arm, to find a busy scene inside. The desks in the room were arranged in a semicircle, with Zheng Sini sitting in the center, and the other inspectors spread out like an umbrella on both sides of him.
Inside the circular space created by the desks, many documents had already been placed. Some people were quickly flipping through them, while others were typing away at computers.
What surprised Huangfu Jun was that Ying Wu was standing right behind Zheng Sini, seemingly reporting something.
She quickly found a reasonable explanation—she was just helping Ying Wu move files; with the 15 minutes up, it made sense for her to be here.
She placed the documents on an empty spot at the edge of the semicircular table and hastily began typing on her phone.
Before her phone's AI voice could play, Ying Wu, standing behind, spoke first: "Inspector Zheng, this is the Seventh Bureau's new employee, Huangfu Jun, whom you just met. She is responsible for finding the worker accident files."
Huangfu Jun raised an eyebrow slightly. This task was Ying Wu's, and she indeed never missed an opportunity to trip her up.
Zheng Sini's cold gaze swept over Huangfu Jun. "Are all the required documents here?"
Huangfu Jun paused. The documents Ying Wu had asked for were all the files of the workers after they entered the construction site, and she had brought them all.
Huangfu Jun nodded, silently answering Zheng Sini.
Seeing this, Ying Wu immediately smiled and turned to Zheng Sini: "Inspector Zheng, I'll go back first."
Zheng Sini nodded slightly, then said to Huangfu Jun, "Please move all the original documents over to my side."
Ying Wu quickly walked out of the room, and as she passed Huangfu Jun, she patted her on the shoulder and said with a smile, "Keep up the good work."
Huangfu Jun smiled in return.
After that, she moved all the documents to the table in front of Zheng Sini.
Zheng Sini waved his hand, and all the documents instantly flew up, connecting like a magpie bridge in the sky, quickly flying from the left to the right.
Huangfu Jun's eyes widened in surprise.
Zheng Sini was indeed a half-demon—his demon art was so cool!
Soon, Zheng Sini inspected the year and name attribution of each document, but his expression darkened. He glanced sideways at Huangfu Jun and questioned coldly, "Are you sure you've looked for all the required files?"
Huangfu Jun took out her phone and typed an AI voice message: "Yes, Ying Wu asked me to help find all the accident workers' files from after they entered the construction site. I personally prepared some extras, which I'll bring later."
Zheng Sini turned his face, his gaze becoming sharper. "The review team needs all the files of the accident workers—both after they joined and before. How do you do things?!"
Huangfu Jun's eyes flickered, and her fingers kept typing. "Inspector Zheng, this task was Ying Wu's. She didn't tell me about the workers' pre-employment files. I was just helping her move."
Before Huangfu Jun could finish typing, Zheng Sini took out his phone, quickly dialed, and said with his back to Huangfu Jun, "Deputy Director Ha, how did you choose your new employee?! Such unreliable work. Suspended her immediately, and I will review her qualification to be in the Monster Bureau!"
Huangfu Jun understood clearly. It wasn't just Ying Wu who wanted to find an excuse to bully her; this Inspector Zheng was obviously using this pretext as well.
Fortunately, she was prepared; this predicament couldn't stump her.
She smiled and shook her head at Zheng Sini, continuing to type unhurriedly: "Inspector Zheng, even though Ying Wu didn't fully brief me, the documents you need are all there. I already said that just now."
Zheng Sini had expected to see Huangfu Jun flustered, but instead she was so calm. Did she have another trick up her sleeve?
Just as she raised her phone to continue playing the voice, the lights in the room flickered, then went pitch black, leaving no visibility.
In the moment of chaos, Huangfu Jun paused. This blackout, though interrupting her words, gave her another crucial opportunity to turn the situation around. She flew into action, rushing out of the office like lightning.
"What's going on? Why the blackout?" An inspector stood up, shouting with some panic. "Isn't the Monster Bureau's power supplied by electric eel monsters? How can there be a blackout?"
"Don't panic." Zheng Sini's deep voice rang out in the darkness.
He stood up, his body emitting a layer of yellow fluorescence. Scanning the surrounding environment with a cold face, he used his powers to sense the electric eel monster's energy veins throughout the building.
Fortunately, the electric eel monster's aura was still there and steady, not seeming to be under attack.
Suddenly, the lights flickered and then came back on fully.
The inspectors breathed a sigh of relief. Just as they were about to ask Zheng Sini what had happened, a blur appeared in front of him.
Before they could react, the blur solidified into Huangfu Jun's figure.
Huangfu Jun was slightly out of breath, placing another mountain of documents on the desk and the empty floor in front of it. Then she pulled out her phone and displayed it to Zheng Sini, as the AI voice automatically played:
"These are all the files Inspector Zheng needs. With so many files and only me to carry them, I had to split them into two trips. The first batch was part of what Ying Wu asked for; this second batch is what I personally thought the Supervision Bureau might need, which exactly matches your requirements. Please check if everything is there and if anything is missing."
As the AI voice ended, two streams of light and shadow suddenly appeared in the air, like the Monster Bureau's unique projection surveillance. One showed the scene of Hamo's office, with his big face directly facing the camera, asking with concern, "Inspector Zheng, that blackout was an accident. Is everything all right on your end?"
Zheng Sini's expression darkened slightly. "It's restored now. I've used my magic to detect that nothing unusual happened except for the Seventh Bureau's Huangfu Jun running back and forth just now."
The office staff in the other stream of light were somewhat surprised, especially Ying Wu, who had just returned to the room, her eyebrows twisted into an iron knot.
Hamo didn't notice many details and continued asking the office staff, "Sister Ying, Uncle Shan, is everything normal in the office?"
Ying Wu seemed not to hear Hamo's words, her gaze entirely fixed on Huangfu Jun through the screen.
Seeing this, Shan Yang had to take over: "Deputy Director Ha, everything is normal in the office."
Hamo only then breathed a sigh of relief. "The Seventh Bureau's power system has never had issues. Maybe Director Zhang was disturbed today; his tasks are so heavy that once interrupted, many things have to start over. That probably caused the anomaly. Once he calms down, there shouldn't be any more problems."
Seeing that they were about to finish exchanging updates and log off, Huangfu Jun quickly opened her phone and replayed her previous message: "These are all the files Inspector Zheng needs. Please check if everything is there and if anything is missing."
Hamo and the Seventh Bureau office suddenly became alert. Huangfu Jun's words clearly had a subtext.
