Chapter 3 (2)

She finally saw the fleeing fox spirit, and the white vortex was swiftly chasing after it.

Sensing the danger behind, the fox spirit's claws dug faster, but the white vortex caught up and absorbed it! It screamed silently, twisted, and in the blink of an eye was sucked clean and disappeared.

Stunned, Huangfu Jun looked up bewilderedly. In an instant, the white mist came before her, rapidly swirling and changing above her head.

Suddenly, the white smoke condensed into the outline of a man.

The outline became clearer. The man had soft silver long hair and wore a voluminous white robe. He flew down from the mist, his hair spreading like waves, robes fluttering, dreamlike and illusory.

He slowly lowered his head, revealing a breathtaking face from within the pure clouds—a perfect blend of soft lines and masculine charm.

Fair skin, heroic sword-like brows, eyes deep as starry seas—every feature flawless and captivating.

He gazed at her quietly, his look sharp and icy.

Huangfu Jun was instantly stunned.

The silver-haired man's beauty surpassed mortal bounds—ethereal, tranquil, holy, pure. It was so beautiful she forgot to breathe.

Bai Lin reached out from the sea of clouds, hooking her nape, pulling her close until they were infinitely close.

His phoenix eyes flickered with a hint of mockery, while his other hand wrapped around her slender neck.

"Summoned by fate, I am your master, named Bai Lin."

His voice was low and magnetic, like mellow wine intoxicating. The depths of his eyes held a smile as bright as morning light breaking through the forest, like a demon hidden in the night, issuing a dangerously tempting invitation.

Huangfu Jun blinked. The dreamlike scene before her disappeared like smoke.

The fox spirit was gone, the white smoke vortex vanished, and the man in the mist was nowhere to be found. The dark world receded, and light returned.

She was back in the car, which was parked by the roadside. The driver lay weakly on the steering wheel, while Ai Huwei and Xuan Ze were slumped together, both with bite marks on their necks.

Ai Lin was unconscious in Huangfu Jun's arms.

Huangfu Jun carefully checked her neck; there were no wounds. She breathed a sigh of relief.

Ai Lin's eyelashes fluttered as she slowly woke.

Huangfu Jun quickly waved to the villa staff for help.

After some commotion, she accompanied Ai Lin into a hospital room.

After helping Ai Lin adjust the IV drip, she took out her phone and typed a message to show Ai Lin: [Xiao Ai, the fox spirit has been dealt with.]

Still shaken, Ai Lin blinked and took a moment to read the words. She suddenly sat up and hugged Huangfu Jun, sobbing into her arms. "I never thought that ring really contained a fox spirit. It's too terrifying."

Huangfu Jun patted her back to comfort her, carefully adjusted the IV tube, and helped her lie back down. She continued typing: [The ring didn't contain a fox spirit. That fox spirit was summoned by a prophecy. They say a word spoken becomes a prophecy. Cursing others may not come true, but cursing yourself might attract bad things. Next time you deal with President Ai and those kept by him, never curse yourself to set a trap—curse them instead!]

Seeing the last line, Ai Lin couldn't help but laugh. She grabbed Huangfu Jun's sleeve tightly with her free hand. "Mm, I understand. Linlin will be good to herself from now on."

Huangfu Jun's lips curled slightly. She helped the girl sit back and typed another message: [I'll write in my mission summary for President Ai that the fox spirit was attracted by his own misdeeds and breaking taboos. You were affected because you're young and weak. If he doesn't watch his behavior in the future, next time a demon will target him. Linlin should take advantage of his fear of the fox spirit to spread a false rumor that you're critically ill, forcing that mother and daughter who want to swallow all of Lin family's property to show their true colors. Lure out their ugly faces.]
