But Ji Xingzhi said, "I know perfectly well whether my money has been transferred."
So, what was this sulking really about?
He Mingqiao rested his chin on his hand, clearly unable to figure it out.
He had tried to communicate and contact them, but it seemed his buddy's family had moved out of their original house.
"When did you secretly contact your family? How did you know their new address and phone number?"
Ji Xingzhi frowned and looked him up and down with a disgusted expression.
What nonsense was he talking about?
The family's address and phone number had never changed.

It was getting late. By now, the room had no heating.
It was raining, and cold.
Bo Xin put on a coat and planned to make a simple crucian carp soup. Her cooking skills were average, just edible. She had learned this recipe online; this would be her first attempt.
She figured as long as the salt was right, it wouldn't taste bad.
On the table was a storybook with no creases, lying open from last night when Bo Xin had casually covered it.
She pointed to it for Ji Yanyi. "Start reading from here."
Ji Yanyi exchanged a glance with Jiang Yuxu in bed. Clearly, he was embarrassed to read a bedtime story.
Jiang Yuxu gave her a reproachful look, as if to say she was cutting corners on her promise.
Bo Xin explained, "This gives Yanyi something to do."
Jiang Yuxu sat up, the blanket draped over his stomach.
Thinking about it, she had to cook, collect rent, and take care of him. She was still too busy.
Maybe he shouldn't be so petty.
Embarrassed, his cheeks were a bit red. "Why aren't you reading?"
"You've been staring at me fiercely."
Jiang Yuxu rubbed his eyes. He couldn't believe that counted as fierce.
He just couldn't accept Yanyi reading to him. Yanyi had been outside in the cold wind and his nose was running. He looked... not very bright.
"I wasn't fierce. I was just worried you don't know the characters."
Ji Yanyi suddenly felt confident. "There's pinyin."
Jiang Yuxu nodded slightly. "Mm."
A childish voice, completely different from the calm and gentle one, stumbled through the words. He perked up at interesting parts, but for the most part, he managed.
Yanyi was immature, but he seemed to be doing his best to take care of him, the patient.
Jiang Yuxu took a medicine box from the bedside table, containing sticky syrup. "You've been out in the wind. This can work as a preventive."
Ji Yanyi rubbed his hands together, his eyes expectant, but his reaching hand was hesitant.
"This is for you. I'll just have the fish soup."
Jiang Yuxu frowned. Wasn't the fish soup really meant for him?
Tired of being cooped up in bed, he sat up straight.
"I'd prefer the fish soup."
Ji Yanyi looked delighted. "Oh."
Jiang Yuxu glanced at Ji Yanyi, then put on his coat and walked to the dining table. Having eaten and drunk in his room all the time, he felt lethargic.
The aroma in the living room was stronger. A bowl was placed before Jiang Yuxu. He took a sip—rich and fragrant.
At that moment, the warmth spread through his limbs, bringing satisfaction.
"Are you giving some to Yanyi?"
"Yes, but he's already eaten. He decided to keep his in his room and drink it slowly."
Jiang Yuxu drank in silence.
He thought he really couldn't be generous.
The dining table was silent. Jiang Yuxu drank with his head down, seemingly immersed. Bo Xin felt a sense of satisfaction.
But seeing Jiang Yuxu enjoy it so much, she felt a hint of unease.
Fortunately, she had tasted it—it wasn't bad.
The table wasn't wide. Her hand could just reach over to wipe his mouth. Jiang Yuxu's face flushed red. "...What are you doing?"
Bo Xin: "Wiping your mouth."
No, Jiang Yuxu meant he wasn't a three-year-old.
Even three-year-olds rarely had their mouths wiped.
But Bo Xin felt no guilt. She even started blaming him. "Don't blush. Otherwise, I can't tell if you're feeling better."
Jiang Yuxu's narrow eyes widened slightly. He was probably a bit angry, he thought.
"Didn't you say I don't need to go to tutoring? Then why rush to make me better?"
Bo Xin wanted to get Jiang Yuxu vaccinated before school started. Back in the countryside, there probably wasn't the chance.
Even if there was, the Li family might not have done it for him.
"You can't take medicine a week before vaccination."
Jiang Yuxu touched his stomach, not knowing why he did that.
"Are you taking only me this time?"
Bo Xin nodded. "Yanyi got his shots a long time ago."
Back then, she knew people in the hospital and could just ask internally. Now, she had to make an appointment, which was why it was delayed until now.
But it was fine. When Jiang Yuxu first came back, he was skin and bones. At least he had some meat on him now.
"This time, I'll also get you a full physical checkup."
Jiang Yuxu knew she was a doctor. Back when they slept on that reed bed, she had taken his pulse.
"You said there was nothing wrong with me back then."
Bo Xin wasn't unconfident in her skills, but "Chinese and Western medicine each have their strengths. A double check will put my mind at ease."
Jiang Yuxu raised an eyebrow slightly and the corner of his mouth curled up.
"Okay."
