"No big deal."
Jiang Shiyu shrugged nonchalantly, then turned and walked into his own room. The moment the door closed—
His face contorted in pain, and he winced as he shook his aching arms.
Those weren't suitcases; they were two hundred jin of iron!
Zeng Keqin stood at the door and surveyed the bedroom. It was about twenty square meters—more than enough for her daily needs.
The room's furnishings were the same as last time.
Blue and white, clean and tidy. But there was a new vase on the nightstand, holding a bunch of bellflowers, white petals still beaded with water, as if freshly placed.
She turned to unpack: clothes into the wardrobe, books onto the shelf, laptop on the desk… Gradually, this unfamiliar room began to take on her presence.
After putting away the last item, Zeng Keqin looked around and nodded in satisfaction. Then she opened the door, walked to the opposite bedroom, and knocked.
She could faintly hear the sound of keyboard clicks from inside, followed by footsteps.
Jiang Shiyu stood at the door, his dark eyes fixed on her. "All done?"
"Mm. Ready for the fingerprint scan."
He came out, leaving his door ajar.
Zeng Keqin couldn't help sneaking a glance inside. The spacious desk held several computer screens, and design drawings crisscrossed the entire field of view. Hand-drawn sketches were taped to the walls.
It looked quite professional—not at all like the casual, carefree image she had imagined.
Jiang Shiyu walked to the front door, pulled up the fingerprint registration interface on the lock, and gestured for her to put her finger on it.
"Thumb."
She pressed down, watching the screen display "User 002."
So besides him, she was the second person to have fingerprint access.
"Thanks."
"You're welcome."
Jiang Shiyu turned to go back, but saw Zeng Keqin standing still.
"Um, is there a supermarket nearby? I want to buy some daily necessities."
Jiang Shiyu didn't reply. He quickly walked into his room, grabbed his car keys, and said, "Come on. I'll drive you."
"No need to trouble yourself. Just tell me the address…"
"You don't know your way around yet." He was already at the entrance, bending down to change his shoes. "Just this once."
"Then wait for me."
Zeng Keqin trotted back to her room, grabbed her canvas bag, and headed out.
The elevator went down to the parking garage.
The garage of this high-end complex was filled with luxury cars—Porsches, Mercedes, Bentleys… Jiang Shiyu's domestic car stood out conspicuously among them.
Maybe his family was wealthy enough that he didn't care about such vanities. He directly opened the car door and sat in.
The supermarket wasn't far—a ten-minute drive.
Jiang Shiyu pushed a shopping cart and skillfully introduced as they walked: "First floor: fresh produce and daily necessities. Second floor: home goods. Third floor: furniture and appliances."
Zeng Keqin followed beside him. "Do you come here often?"
"Not bad."
He said that, but the cart's direction turned precisely toward the daily necessities section.
Zeng Keqin opened her phone's memo and, following her pre-listed checklist, dropped items into the cart one by one. Occasionally, when she couldn't reach something, Jiang Shiyu would help her grab it.
They shopped in tandem, the cart gradually filling up. When they reached the fresh produce section, Jiang Shiyu suddenly stopped, took a box of beef from the cooler, then tomatoes, greens, and garlic.
Zeng Keqin was a little surprised. "You can cook?"
Jiang Shiyu raised an eyebrow, tipped his chin up slightly, and said with a hint of disdain, "Takeout isn't clean. I usually cook for myself."
Zeng Keqin frowned doubtfully. "Knowing how is one thing. Whether it's edible is another."
A hint of challenge glinted in Jiang Shiyu's dark eyes. "What? Want to try?"
Before Zeng Keqin could answer, he pushed the cart forward, muttering, "Not everyone gets to taste my cooking."
Zeng Keqin was caught off guard. She followed behind, whispering, "I never said I wanted to eat."
At the checkout, the cashier glanced at their items and asked, "Together?"
"No—"
"Together."
Jiang Shiyu directly handed over a card.
Zeng Keqin quickly added, "Please give me the receipt."
Back in the car park, they carried several bags upstairs.
