Chapter 7 (4)

Zeng Keqin found her seat, flanked by Qiao Meng and Su Wanyi.

Zou Min said, "Welcome to Bai Run'er. I am your primary supervising attorney. Over the next month, you will participate in actual cases as trainee lawyers."

"The assessment rules are simple. After one month, we will comprehensively evaluate your performance and select two formal interns. The evaluation criteria include: case analysis skills, document writing skills, team collaboration skills, and professional ethics."

Zhou Yi raised his hand. "Lawyer Zou, will we be assigned to specific cases?"

"Yes. Here are six ongoing cases. Each case is missing a draft legal opinion. Each of you will take one and submit it within three days."

She distributed the materials one by one.

Zeng Keqin received a thick case file about a contract dispute, easily hundreds of pages.

Zou Min's gaze swept over each of them. "This is your first task. I don't require perfection, but I do require completeness."

She went over some other important points for the internship, then declared the meeting adjourned and left on her own.

The meeting room fell silent, filled only with the rustling of pages.

By noon, Qiao Meng stretched. "Xiaoke, let's grab lunch together? I noticed a few decent restaurants downstairs."

Zeng Keqin was about to refuse, but Su Wanyi spoke up. "We can also check out the surrounding area."

Zeng Keqin thought for a moment. "Okay."

They walked together to the elevator, where Zhou Yi, Zhao Mo, and one other person were already waiting.

Qiao Meng naturally stepped forward to greet them. "Are you guys going to lunch too?"

Zhou Yi nodded. "Let's see what's good downstairs."

"Let's all go together!"

But Zhao Mo said, "You go ahead. I have things to do."

The elevator reached the first floor.

They watched as Zhao Mo walked straight to a stretched Bentley parked by the roadside. A driver-like figure bent down to open the door for him.

Zheng Zhixi sighed enviously. "That outfit of his is clearly worth a fortune. We're really not from the same world."

Zhou Yi shook his head and sighed. "With all that money, he's still competing with us for jobs."

Qiao Meng interrupted them. "Alright, stop it. I'm hungry."

They walked around the vicinity.

Qiao Meng pointed to a stylish restaurant. "Let's go here. We're a big group, so splitting the bill won't be too expensive."

"Alright."

While waiting for the food, Zhou Yi, bored, looked around. Suddenly, he lowered his voice. "Quick, look! Isn't that Lawyer Zhuang at the table in front, to the right?"

Everyone followed his gaze.

Zhuang Zhengyuan, whose face was usually stern, actually wore a hint of a smile. And sitting across from him was—

A head of brownish-red hair, a loose black T-shirt, a lazy posture, and a hint of impatience in his brows.

It was Jiang Shiyu.

Author's Note:

Zeng Keqin: He's not going to tattle on me, is he!

Jiang Shiyu: Guess whether I will or not.
