The Light Brain screen showed 7:00 AM.
She dressed, cooked herself a bowl of plain noodles, then sat on the sofa, connected the Light Brain cable to the helmet, and put it on.
When everyone logged into the StarNet virtual space, they would first enter their own rest room.
The original owner's rest room was more like a training ground, surrounded by training equipment, with a table and chairs on the right.
Chu Ran didn't change the setup. She planned to buy a few dozen more square meters of rest room on StarNet when she had money.
Chu Ran stood in front of the mirror, examining her avatar.
A burly, muscular man with a buzz cut, dark skin, narrow eyes, a high nose bridge, and a fierce aura.
Everyone loved beauty.
This self-image adjustment had added at least ten layers of beauty filters.
Chu Ran reached out and touched her buzz cut. Still, it was quite handsome.
"Please log into the qualifier room as soon as possible. The match will start in 10 minutes."
The StarNet system reminded her.
Chu Ran walked to the door of the rest room, entered the room number on the screen, and selected the suffix for the Spiritist Tournament from a series of options.
The 40-square-meter room had a storage rack at each end and nothing else.
On Chu Ran's side was a black long staff, which looked no different from one she would have made herself.
Suddenly, another figure appeared in the room, and a basic creation materialized on the opposite storage rack—a short sword.
The Spiritist Association had indeed not procured any kitchen knife type basic creation.
Chu Ran looked at her opponent, the corner of her mouth twitching.
The guy opposite wasn't tall, had a bit of a belly, and showed no sign of training. After entering the room, he didn't look at his opponent first but curiously looked around.
"Why does it feel shabbier every year?" The guy rubbed the back of his head.
"Are you fighting or not?" Chu Ran's voice was slightly cold.
The guy finally noticed his opponent was a fierce-looking burly man.
With a thud, he knelt directly on the ground. "I'll surrender as soon as the match starts."
Chu Ran didn't speak. Looks reflected the mind; she couldn't break character.
Clearly, the guy had thought through all scenarios when signing up. He talked so fast that even interrupting was impossible. "Sorry, big brother, my Spiritual Power is too weak. I can't even use basic creations in real life. I just signed up for the qualifiers to have some fun. When the match starts, I'll surrender immediately."
Chu Ran stared at him. A pure thrill-seeker.
Her silence made him nervous. He did this every Spiritist Tournament. If he met someone with the same idea, they could spar a bit, but if he met a strong player who didn't like small talk, he'd end up killed miserably.
The feeling of dying in a virtual world wasn't good. One time it even gave him psychological trauma.
"If you can't use them in reality, can you use them on StarNet?" She replied.
Hearing this, the guy sighed in relief. It seemed he wouldn't die miserably this time.
He scrambled up and said cautiously, "In the virtual world, as long as you have Spiritual Power, you can activate basic creations. The underlying data logic doesn't set a Spiritual Power threshold."
He ran to the storage rack, lovingly touched the black short sword, carefully injected his pitifully small Spiritual Power, and when he saw the short sword slowly grow to three times its size, his eyes lit up.
"In reality, if I inject Spiritual Power into this basic creation, I can't use it," he explained. "Because my Spiritual Power can only make it three times larger, not even meeting the basic requirement. But on StarNet, it works."
"I once experienced the Spiritist Association's virtual training room on StarNet, and I used a basic creation to slash the face of an F-class Zerg."
Chu Ran didn't speak.
"But it was too expensive. That one time cost me three months' salary."
The guy looked at the basic creation in his hand and laughed self-deprecatingly. "I know that someone like me participating in the Spiritist Tournament is a joke, but for me, it's the only chance to experience a different life."
"This feeling is amazing."
"Match start," the StarNet system's cold voice sounded.
The guy reluctantly touched the short sword, and it returned to its original size.
Once the match started, his Spiritual Power was depleted.
The guy raised his hand and shouted, "I surrender!"
"Contestant Ye surrenders. Winner: Caesar. Current win rate: 100%. Match duration: one second." The system's tone seemed a bit slacking.
Chu Ran and the guy were instantly moved out of the match room.
"Now notifying you of the next match information."
