Chapter 59 Great Battle (2)

The Seventh Sub-Star had never been high-profile within the Human Federation. This past year might have been its most famous moment.

Unceasing artillery fire once again echoed between the high-rises. Cries and screams fell like relentless rain, enveloping the entire planet.

Every second, hundreds of buildings collapsed, with countless casualties.

Zerg and Zerg Beasts, like locusts invading a wheat field, crazily and cruelly devoured all life. Blood flowed, gathering into endless streams of gore, seeping into the ground along with the city's sewage.

Corpses lay hidden under large rubble. Exposed parts had been gnawed on.

Armed mecha squads sped through the city, their fierce artillery fire like the wrath of humanity, bombarding the Zerg tide. Low-level Zerg corpses fell from the sky, only to be instantly devoured by Zerg Beasts.

High-level Zerg clashed with Spiritists, countless divine phantoms standing in midair, falling in the blink of an eye.

Edwood's robe fell away, his silver-gray hair scattering in the air. His eyes flickered with dark red flames, his skin pale as a corpse, and his lower body was completely shrouded in dark gray mist.

Centered on him, black mist formed a massive magic array. The ruby on his staff continuously emitted red light, falling onto the array.

Gray undead surged from the array, hungrily devouring the surrounding Zerg and Zerg Beasts.

After clearing an area, before they could move far, countless more Zerg and Zerg Beasts squeezed in through the cracks, surrounding Edwood again.

This time, three S-class Zerg descended.

“We must protect the route to the spaceport!” Gao Yuan shouted into the communicator, his face pale.

He no longer hoped to wipe out this Zerg tide.

The only thing he could do was give more people a chance to escape this hell.

Before him were eight large screens. Seven showed scenes of Zerg devastation, but the middle one was pitch black, with only a vague humanoid figure standing in midair.

The SS-class Zerg had not yet entered the fray.

Gao Yuan closed his eyes, the surroundings deathly silent as a tomb.

“You should leave first,” his subordinate couldn't help saying. “I’ll stay here.”

Under these circumstances, who commanded was no longer important. It was just a matter of dying a few minutes earlier or later.

Gao Yuan’s eyes snapped open, his expression fierce and resolute as he stared at the SS-class Zerg on the screen. “Leave?”

“I am the head of the Seventh Sub-Star Human Federation government! Anyone can leave but me!”

The subordinate was taken aback, then stood behind him calmly. “Alright, I’ll stay with you.”

Gao Yuan's face darkened. “You planning to usurp my position?”

The subordinate was silent for a moment, then closed his eyes. “Yeah, I've thought about it.”

Gao Yuan fell silent too.

“Fine, when the new monument is built, your name goes before mine.”

Downstairs, Yu Mei shoved the unconscious Chang He into a flying car, then turned to Andrew. “You go with him.”

Andrew stepped forward grimly, directly closed the car door, and signaled the guards to drive off.

“Andrew!” Yu Mei took a deep breath. “You…”

“If I desert now, I’ll be a disgrace to the Andrew Family,” Andrew interrupted. “I’m not that irreplaceable.”

“The Central Star won’t stand idly by.” He looked back at his guards. “Protect the lady as long as you can.”

With that, he walked toward another waiting aircraft.

Edwood couldn’t hold off three S-class Zerg alone.

Yu Mei watched his retreating back and sighed.

She looked up at the guards. “Let’s go. Take me to the war command center.”

Chu Ran’s fight was going smoothly.

Although she didn’t understand what change had occurred in her body, she could feel that her mutated Spiritual Power now suppressed the unknown Zerg.

Chu Ran swung the rod at the unknown Zerg’s head.

The unknown Zerg dodged quickly, but its body was too massive. After the upper body evaded, the lower body couldn’t get out of the way in time.

Blue blood splattered.

A huge dent appeared in the unknown Zerg’s lower body.

A powerful sonic boom rang through the sky.

Charlie Jing and the others, hiding behind the rubble, instantly fell unconscious.

After a long while, they woke up.

Huang Feiying immediately tried to rush out.

Lei Jianguo grabbed him, and Charlie Jing quickly injected him again.

Smack—the sound of his upper body hitting the ground.

“Don’t bother. If you go out, you’ll just be served to the Zerg,” He Qiwu mocked from behind the ruins.

Huang Feiying’s face darkened, and he struggled to turn his head.

The vice-captain quickly pressed his head down, causing his open mouth to close too late and get a mouthful of dirt.

“What? You want to curse me?” He Qiwu smiled, crouching as she moved forward. “Do you know why that Zerg hasn’t absorbed you yet?”

“It’s because my Spiritual Power is shielding you.”

Although He Qiwu’s Spiritual Power couldn’t control the unknown Zerg and could barely cause damage, it was more than enough to protect the survivors.

Killing the unknown Zerg was hard enough; no need to add to its fighting strength.

Lei Jianguo remained silent, his face dark.

Relying on someone from the God Summoning Society to survive was a great shame, but they were indeed useless.

Charlie Jing ignored the drama behind her. She pulled out the Red Divine Stone from her backpack and stared intently at the battle between Chu Ran and the Zerg.

The potion she had injected into Chu Ran was a blend of divine power extracted from countless high-grade Divine Stones. It seemed to be working well now, but she didn’t know how long it would last.

Chu Ran soon felt her Spiritual Power fading.

Her expression hardened. The Golden Cudgel grew even larger, faintly flashing with golden light.

“Go!”

The Golden Cudgel spun once, rose high, cast a huge shadow, and slammed down hard on the unknown Zerg’s head.

The unknown Zerg was already covered in wounds. The tube behind its head was only half left. Its compound eyes showed unwillingness and despair. “Ss!”

Why?!

Why was it not affected by her Spiritual Power?!

A thunderous crash.

When the dust settled, a silver-gray metallic tail blocked the Golden Cudgel.

“I haven’t allowed it to die yet.”

The SS-class Zerg, Chong Wu, stood indifferently in front of the unknown Zerg, its right hand already transformed into a Zerg form.

A huge spiked scythe reflected cold light under the sun.

Charlie Jing’s face turned ashen, her heart sinking.

The worst had happened.
