Chapter 25: Enrollment

The instructor handling Chu Ran's enrollment was familiar.

He was one of the ones whose face had been clawed by Old Master Chu's niece.

The instructor had clearly seen Chu Ran that day as well.

He coughed. "Well, Chu Ran, right? I'm your class's lead instructor, Li Li. Just call me Instructor Li."

"Okay, Instructor Li." Chu Ran carried her luggage, expression unchanged.

Instructor Li hesitated for a long time before finally giving up and scratching the back of his head. "About what happened that day... you understand, right? Trying to bully someone and getting killed instead, even at the First Training Institute—"

"I understand," Chu Ran interrupted decisively. "And I have no attachment to the Chu Family. Not applauding their misfortune is the last bit of respect I have for them."

Instructor Li instantly relaxed. As long as she wasn't a blood-is-thicker-than-water type.

"The roommate we've arranged for you is Jian," Instructor Li said as he led Chu Ran toward the dormitory building. "Her situation is similar to yours now—her Spiritual Power exceeds what her body can handle."

"Since she succeeded with God Summoning last time, there seems to have been a qualitative change," Instructor Li said with some relief. "Years of physical training haven't been wasted. She can now perform God Summoning one time out of ten."

Chu Ran thought of the bloodstained short sword and unconsciously averted her eyes. "Then I should learn from her."

"Haha, no need to say 'learn,'" Instructor Li waved his hand. "She hasn't been on the battlefield yet. We just thought you two could exchange experiences, since this situation is extremely rare."

In terms of actual combat record, Chu Ran surpassed all the instructors at the Third Training Institute, let alone Jian. To be honest, they hadn't expected Chu Ran to choose the Third Training Institute. With her current reputation and strength, she could have applied to the First Training Institute or even a military academy on Central Star.

After intense discussion, they unanimously concluded that Chu Ran had come for Jian—a precedent.

"Professor Hu only had Jian as a case before," Instructor Li sighed.

Most people who couldn't bear high Spiritual Power died before adulthood. Jian had managed to survive to twenty-two, but she still couldn't use S-level Spiritual Power.

Not quite a genius, not quite ordinary. This situation had persisted for so many years that Jian ultimately chose to transfer from the First Training Institute to the Third.

Chu Ran's expression shifted slightly, feigning surprise. "Is Jian a patient of Professor Hu? When I had Spiritual Power Destruction before, it was Professor Hu who formulated my treatment药剂."

Instructor Li quickly said, "She's Dr. Sun's patient. But because it's so rare, Professor Hu participates in designing her training and treatment plan."

"Ah, then it's similar to my situation." Chu Ran nodded.

Instructor Li smiled. "Professor Hu holds a high status on Central Star. If not for the Andrew Family, she wouldn't have come to the Seventh Sub-Star."

"Over the years, she frequently travels back and forth to Central Star. Many high-ranking patients there need her."

Chu Ran touched her nose and lowered her eyes as if embarrassed. "It seems the column on StarNet undersold her."

"After all, she's the first person in history to serve three consecutive terms as president of the Central Medical College." There was a hint of admiration in Instructor Li's tone.

They arrived at the dormitory building. Instructor Li stopped. "You're in Room 307. The information has been entered. I'm not really allowed into the female dorm, so you can go up on your own."

"Put your luggage in that delivery chute—it'll be sent to your room automatically. If you need anything, you can ask Jian."

"Okay." Chu Ran picked up her suitcase and placed it in the chute.

"The follow-up course schedule has been sent to your Light Brain," Instructor Li reminded. "The deadline for the Spiritist Tournament preliminaries is in the next few days. I recommend you sign up."

"First, there's corresponding credit奖励. Second, the finals are held on Central Star, where you'll encounter stronger opponents."

Instructor Li looked at Chu Ran seriously. "Every strong person is born in battle. And you need stronger opponents."

Chu Ran understood what Instructor Li meant. "I'll sign up."

For a child born into a large family like the original owner, once their Spiritual Power talent was detected at age three, they would begin combat training. By the time they entered a training institute, they had already sparred with elders or peers countless times.

But not the original owner.

Her E-level Spiritual Power had excluded her from the Chu Family's training candidates. The Chu Family gave her a living allowance more generous than ordinary people. She could choose fine food and beautiful clothes, or take courses at an external training hall. As long as she didn't embarrass the Chu Family, no one cared about her future.

After her stepsister Chu Zhenzhen was detected with S-level Spiritual Power, no one paid attention to the original owner at all.

The original owner had completed the most grueling physical training at the training hall and honed basic combat moves to perfection, but she couldn't find suitable opponents. Her Spiritual Power was too weak; anyone with real skill refused to fight her.

In her previous world, Chu Ran herself had no experience of life-and-death battles. In a society ruled by law, few ended up in prison.

The only two who fought without restraint were her adoptive parents, but beating them black and blue would already cause plenty of trouble in her life.

Serious injury or death would definitely be a foolish choice.

The most reckless Chu Ran ever got was when she encountered a robber. Unfortunately, she couldn't hit vital spots to avoid excessive self-defense.

If she had stayed in her original world, maybe she would have gone mad one day. Chu Ran had once seriously considered it.

She wanted to live a bright and dignified life in that world, but when faced with scoundrels, it was hard to make them learn a lesson through civilized means.

Day after day, there was only psychological resentment.

Chu Ran was very grateful to the original owner.

If not for the original owner's persistent efforts, she might have died the moment she absorbed the remnant soul of the Nine-Tailed Celestial Fox.

The dormitory was large. The entrance opened into a thirty-square-meter living room, with separate bedrooms on either side.

Jian hadn't returned yet.

The luggage had already been sent to the room.

Chu Ran opened her Light Brain and quickly ordered the daily necessities she needed. She was quite well-off now. The government and military bonuses alone amounted to one million carats.

After clearing the shopping cart, Chu Ran put the items from her suitcase into the cabinet.
