Chapter 20 Three Chapters Combined (5)

"Why did you come downstairs?" Su Baixue asked.

"The faucet is fixed. I'm going home." Xiao Qin adjusted his tool bag. "What are you doing? Is your grandma not back yet? Grandma Li asked me to come down and find you. You should go back."

Su Baixue hesitated and said, "Xiao Qin, I... I saw a person by the trash bin. Could you come with me to have a look?"

"Trash bin? Person?" Xiao Qin scratched his head. "I need to get back! It's so late."

"That person by the trash bin seems injured, lying on the ground. I don't know if... he's dead."

The word "dead" seemed to lower the surrounding temperature.

Xiao Qin looked at her with a confused and shocked expression. The acne on his forehead glistened oily under the motion-sensor light. He stammered, "Dead? Then... then why did you come back... d-didn't you call an ambulance?"

"My grandma said there are criminals pretending to faint by the trash bin. And that person might not be dead yet. I didn't dare..."

"Is that a real news story?" Xiao Qin was even more puzzled.

"Is... is it?" Su Baixue stammered too.

"Maybe..."

The two looked at each other.

Together, they walked out of the stairwell and approached the trash bin.

"There really is a person..." Xiao Qin stepped forward and was about to crouch down, but seeing Su Baixue's timid expression and the surrounding darkness, he also got a bit scared. He took a wrench from his tool bag, held it in his hand, and handed Su Baixue a pair of pliers.

"Take this," he said.

Su Baixue silently took them.

Xiao Qin crouched down and poked the person on the ground with the wrench. No response.

He poked again.

This time, the person on the ground spoke, saying, "Help."

Xiao Qin glanced back at Su Baixue. She looked at him nervously, raised the pliers, and nodded with a determined expression.

Xiao Qin blushed: "..." So cute.

Suddenly filled with courage, he reached out and turned the fallen man over completely. The man was tall, at least over 1.8 meters, and Xiao Qin, under 1.7 meters, struggled a bit to move him.

After turning him over, they could finally see what he looked like.

It was a man, though his hair was a bit long. Blood and filth from the trash bin covered most of his face. Even the front of his down jacket was covered in blood. It was hard to tell where he was injured.

Xiao Qin gently patted the man's face: "Hey, can you hear me? Are you okay?"

The man on the ground opened his mouth vaguely, but his words were unclear. Su Baixue leaned in closer, bending down to look at his face.

"He seems to have a fever." Su Baixue examined him and noticed from his flushed cheeks and neck.

Xiao Qin unzipped his black down jacket, took out his phone, and called 120. While talking, he pulled a relatively clean rag from his tool bag and handed it to Su Baixue. "I'll make the call. Su Baixue, wipe his face... How did this guy get hurt so badly in the middle of the night?"

"Hello, yes, this is..." Xiao Qin explained the situation to 120.

The snow was falling harder.

Su Baixue placed her umbrella on the ground to cover the man's head. Then she took off her scarf and put it under his head as a cushion.

She wrapped the rag with a layer of snow from the nearby wall, wet it, and began wiping the man's face. As she wiped, her hand paused.

What appeared before her was an extremely, extremely beautiful face.

Beautiful might not be the right word for a man, but this beauty was truly unparalleled. It was the most handsome face Su Baixue had ever seen.

This face was very familiar.

Like Wei Yun.

Impossible... He was a big star.

Su Baixue frowned. She felt a prejudice toward this face—a prejudice she herself didn't understand, a very inexplicable aversion. Even though this person's appearance seemed to make even the trash bin look more luxurious.

The person on the ground seemed to be awakened by the rough texture on his face.

His long eyelashes trembled, and then he slightly opened his eyes.

Throughout his life, Wei Yun would never forget this day. Even in his dying moments, he would still cherish and miss this night.

He opened his eyes and saw Su Baixue.

That night, his whole body ached. Su Baixue furrowed her brow as she wiped his face. Her red down jacket made her small face look very pretty and very soft. Snow fell on Su Baixue's long hair.

Those eyes looking at him were as clear as a ray of light.

Illuminating all his disheveled misery.

Xiao Qin hung up the phone and came over to help Su Baixue. "The ambulance will be here soon. Let's check where he's injured. If his head is okay, we might as well move him into the stairwell. Otherwise, this wind is brutal."

"He seems to have woken up," Su Baixue said, turning around.

Xiao Qin crouched down and looked at Wei Yun's face: "He's not awake. His eyes are closed."

Su Baixue looked down in confusion.

Su Baixue: "..." He had just opened his eyes. Strange.
