She put on the mask, took off her scarf, and sat on the ground waiting silently. While waiting, she searched online for the church car accident that day. Unexpectedly, no local news reported it.
Who was that thin man the assassin guard killed?
Was it really the thin man who hit the person? With his death, the case would probably become more complicated.
Hopefully, her photos would come in handy one day.
Su Cui noted the black car and taxi license plates in her phone's memo. Then she set her phone to silent, turned it off, wrapped it in her scarf, and threw it into a nearby bush.
Although she hadn't died from jumping off the building, the floor hadn't been very high. She was fine overall, but her muscles had been swollen for a few days.
She hadn't tested whether this body could withstand bullets.
Better safe than sorry.
At this hour, it was easy to feel drowsy. Su Cui scooped up a handful of snow and wiped her face. The cold was just what she needed to stay alert.
"Refreshing!" Su Cui never thought she'd see this day. She closed her eyes.
Lately, she could run faster than Olympic champions and was as strong as Popeye after eating spinach. She also had her golden finger, but unfortunately, time was limited, and she hadn't had a chance to test her new abilities properly. The people she had encountered before were ordinary. She wanted to see what she was really capable of.
Footsteps approached step by step.
They stepped on the snow, making even sounds. Su Cui thought it must be deliberate, as if the person wanted her to hear.
Why bother?
Su Cui opened her eyes.
She was just a frail, elderly woman.
The footsteps stopped.
Su Cui slowly looked up, pretending to cower.
"An old woman?" The newcomer's tone was surprised, mostly disappointed.
Su Cui: "..." The world in this book was truly something; even a foreign assassin could speak Chinese, and his Mandarin didn't sound awkward at all.
The foreign assassin in the security guard uniform fully displayed his contempt for the elderly. Seeing that she was old, all interest in playing games vanished from his face. He directly raised his gun.
"Please don't kill me..." Su Cui stammered, quickly testing him. "I hid my phone. If you let me go, I'll delete the photos. I set up an email; if I don't cancel it in time, the photos will be sent out... Please let me go."
"Even if you send them out, it doesn't matter."
That was Su Cui's answer.
The man pulled the trigger.
【Author's Note】
In Chapter 19's public chapter, the author's note supplemented issues about updates and comments. I won't say much here.
The description of snow is adapted from Pushkin's "Winter Morning."
