Chapter 2 (2)

Looking at this message, Yu Wanwan angrily typed back: [No way! I'd rather kill myself than settle for him!]

Gu Enzhun: [But you send every date to the hospital. Among the rich young masters in the elite circle, almost all of them except Lu Peizhi have been 'cursed' by you.]

Yu Wanwan was resolute: [I'm never marrying Lu Peizhi. Tomorrow I'll head back to the matchmaking market and find a new candidate. I refuse to believe that among the 700 million men in China, I can't find another one who isn't afraid of my husband-killing constitution!]

After sending this message, she tossed her phone aside and stared blankly at the ceiling for a long time. Suddenly, as if struck by an idea, she picked up her phone again, quickly scrolled down, and found Zhang Jingxu's WeChat.

She tapped into their chat history. The last time she had chatted with him was in March 2024. After that, it had been Zhang Jingxu unilaterally sending her messages.

Things like Happy Children's Day, Happy Qixi Festival, Happy Start of Winter… probably due to her prolonged cold-shouldering, his persistent holiday greetings had completely stopped in May.

Yu Wanwan bit her thumb joint, deep in thought. As if making a major decision, she started typing in the chat box: [Did you get home?]

After sending this message, she turned her phone face down on her chest, nervously waiting for his reply.

Luckily, she didn't have to wait long. Zhang Jingxu replied almost instantly: [Just arrived.]

Two very brief words. Yu Wanwan bit her thumb again, thought for a moment, and sent him an invitation: [Are you free tomorrow?]

Without waiting for his answer, she continued: [I'd like to treat you to a meal, as thanks for sending me home tonight, and also to welcome you back.]

After sending the message, she quickly added a cute emoji sticker.

The words 'typing…' flickered on the chat interface. After a moment, he replied again: [Okay.]

Though still brief, the response was enough to make Yu Wanwan's heart race. Her first step had succeeded.

She immediately did a victory gesture. If the first step was so successful, the second step would surely go smoothly too.

She was excited for a long time on the bed, then finally put down her phone, looking forward to tomorrow's meal.

The next day, since she had an appointment to have French cuisine with Zhang Jingxu in the afternoon, Yu Wanwan had breakfast and spent the entire morning meticulously dressing herself up from head to toe.

She looked at herself in the mirror: a white halter-neck, off-shoulder short dress, paired with a classic, elegant low ponytail updo, and makeup so light it was barely there.

Yu Wanwan twirled in front of the full-length mirror, admiring her stunning beauty from every angle. She silently vowed in her heart: Today, I will definitely win him over!

So when she appeared at the top of the stairs in her high heels, she unsurprisingly captured the attention of the whole family.

Xu Xiangsi stared at her exceptionally beautiful youngest daughter standing on the stairs. While shocked, her mind went blank.

It had been a long time since her youngest daughter had dressed up so carefully.

Yu Wanwan slowly walked downstairs under the amazed gazes of her family. When she reached the dining table, Yu Suisui finally spoke up, "What are you all dressed up for?"

Yu Wanwan didn't answer her question but instead did a proud spin in front of her, "Do I look good?"

Yu Suisui didn't give her a chance to show off. She answered flatly, "Passable."

Yu Wanwan: "…Hmph."

She couldn't help but roll her eyes at Yu Suisui and was about to leave when Xu Xiangsi stopped her, "Lunch is ready. Where are you going?"

Yu Wanwan held her arms affectedly in front of her chest and raised her voice, "I'll skip lunch. I have a blind date for French cuisine."

"Blind date?" Hearing this, Xu Xiangsi's eyes lit up instantly. She hurried forward and asked, "Who are you going on a blind date with?"
