Chapter 18

She relaxed her body as if she had finally achieved "complete merit," and continued, "Actually, having said all that, the main thing is you need to quickly find a girlfriend you like, so you can practice offline. Only through practice will you arrive at the truth. You can't have all this talent and no opportunity to show it off, understand?"

Zhang Jingxu looked at her thoughtfully, his expression as if he wanted to say something but held back.

Yu Wanwan picked up her glass and prepared to leave. "Since the lessons are over, let's go pack our clothes. We need to set off early tomorrow."

"Oh." Reminded by her, Zhang Jingxu suddenly remembered they had gotten so absorbed in the lesson that he almost forgot they had a "travel filming mission" tomorrow.

He took a deep breath, closed his notebook reluctantly, and began to pack his clothes for the resort tomorrow with Yu Wanwan.

Since they were only staying for two days, they decided to share one suitcase. Summer clothes were thin. Yu Wanwan carefully selected four summer outfits, which only took up a quarter of the space.

She also stuffed in some travel-sized cosmetics and filming equipment, occupying exactly half the suitcase.

After packing, Yu Wanwan zipped up one side of the suitcase, stood up, and clapped her hands. "Alright, this is all I'm bringing. The other half is yours."

"We'll set off at 9 a.m. tomorrow." After saying this, she added, "Review well," then left his room satisfied.

Zhang Jingxu casually grabbed a few pieces of his own clothes from the walk-in closet, folded them, and stuffed them in. He zipped the suitcase and pushed it aside. As he turned around, he suddenly noticed a shirt jacket that Yu Wanwan had left on his bed.

He picked up the jacket and walked to the door. Looking at the closed bedroom door opposite, he hesitated for a moment, then decided not to return it for now.

He closed his bedroom door, looked down at the soft jacket in his hands, which seemed to still have the scent of its owner.

Zhang Jingxu looked at it, then unconsciously lifted the jacket and cautiously, tentatively brought it to his nose to greedily sniff.

He inhaled the scent on the jacket deeply into his lungs, swallowing unconsciously, feeling inexplicably nervous inside.

If Yu Wanwan saw this, she would definitely think he was a pervert.

——

The next day when they went out, the sun was shining brightly outside. The weather was exceptionally good.

Today, Zhang Jingxu didn't have the driver drive; instead, he chose to drive himself. Yu Wanwan sat in the passenger seat holding a stabilizer. Today she decided to allow him to show his face in her video. She said to the camera, "We're off!"

And she gave him a special close-up.

She titled this spontaneous trip "Weekend Escape from the City Plan."

The car, accompanied by soothing music from the car stereo, slowly drove into the mountains.

It took only an hour from the city to the resort. Yu Wanwan narrated the resort scenery into her phone while following Zhang Jingxu to check in at the front desk.

After checking in, Yu Wanwan handed the filming responsibility to Zhang Jingxu, walking ahead and narrating as she went.

She opened the door to her booked room and saw that the cleaning staff had made the room spotless and exceptionally clean. There was a welcome fruit plate on the coffee table, which made her feel much more at ease.

Zhang Jingxu followed her with the camera, moving inward. "The room is very clean. We booked a twin room, and the space is huge."

Yu Wanwan pushed open the glass door to the balcony and continued narrating seriously, "Outside the room is a private courtyard, and there's a hot spring pool just for us. It's a natural hot spring piped down from the mountain, with a strong sulfur smell."

Zhang Jingxu followed her narration methodically, moving the camera. "The scenery around here is great. The bamboo grove is lush and very cool, giving a feeling like ancient martial artists living in seclusion. I heard there might be fireflies around here at night. But there are a lot of mosquitoes in the mountains, so remember to bring essential balm and mosquito repellent."

Yu Wanwan finished earnestly describing the hotel and surrounding environment, then signaled Zhang Jingxu to put away the camera. She lay down comfortably on her own big bed, rubbing the fabric of the bed with one hand, and sighed, "This bed is so soft!"

When it was almost time for a meal, they quickly tidied up and headed to the restaurant to get something to eat.

Yu Wanwan set up filming equipment on the table, ordered a few signature dishes from the hotel, and began to introduce the restaurant's environment.

Soon, a cute robot food cart shaped like a child slowly approached their table, immediately catching Yu Wanwan's attention.

According to her elder sister, this robot food cart seemed to be a recent collaboration between the hotel and Jingyu.

The robot cart stopped steadily beside the table and said in a cute voice, "Welcome Miss Yu to Xinghe Resort Hotel. A restaurant staff member will now introduce your dinner."

Yu Wanwan's eyes flashed with surprise. How could the robot recognize her identity?

She suspiciously turned her gaze to the robot's developer, who had a proud expression.

When the waiter heard the robot's words, a look of shock flashed in his eyes. He had thought that with the camera set up, these guests were bloggers here to review, but he never expected they were the hotel heir secretly inspecting?

With that thought, the waiter immediately perked up.

To reverse declining performance, Yu Pingsheng had specifically partnered with Jingyu to introduce robots. He had originally wanted the robots to completely replace front desk staff, but worried that too many servers in the restaurant might make guests uncomfortable. After much deliberation, he launched the current "human-machine collaboration" work model.

This robot could not only deliver meals to customers but also switch language modes via a touch panel on its back, allowing the robot to communicate effortlessly with guests from different countries.

The waiter placed each dish from the cart onto the table and began to earnestly explain each dish.

Everything was proceeding normally and rigorously until the waiter placed a delicate fruit platter on the table that Yu Wanwan had never ordered. She couldn't help asking, "I don't think we ordered a fruit platter, did we?"

"Uh..." The waiter said politely, "This is a complimentary gift from the hotel."

Yu Wanwan glanced at the other guests and didn't see any complimentary fruit platters on their tables. She asked again, "So... is this given to every guest, or only to food reviewers who have cameras on their tables?"

The waiter was a college student who had just graduated and started working here a month ago, without any prior formal work experience. Now, faced with Yu Wanwan's questioning, he was already sweating nervously, his mind a blank. The procedures he had memorized during training were almost completely forgotten. In the end, he clumsily told the truth: "It's... to thank food reviewers for promoting our hotel, so we give you a fruit platter, hoping you can give us a good review."

But as soon as he said that, he immediately regretted it. By saying that, wasn't he admitting the hotel treated people differently depending on who they were?

He felt incredibly guilty inside, thinking he might lose his job.

Yu Wanwan's expression immediately fell. She felt this "special complimentary service" was problematic. She turned off her phone to stop recording and looked sharply at the waiter. "In your hotel's standard operating procedures, is there a clause about 'only giving fruit platters to food reviewers'?"

The waiter broke out in a cold sweat from her gaze. "N-no."

"So it's treating people differently based on who they are?" She hit the nail on the head. "You gave me a fruit platter today because I had a camera. What about the regular guests who come after seeing promotional videos? If they find out there's no freebie, won't they feel discriminated against and that the advertising was false?"

Zhang Jingxu watched her, seeing a completely different, imposing side of her, and couldn't help showing admiration in his eyes.
