Chapter 27: The Path of Wealth (2) (2)

"Is there a problem? Then just pretend I didn't say anything..."

Wei Xunzhou looked up and interrupted Di Yao, who was about to retreat for the first time. "Have you thought it through?"

Hearing this, Di Yao's eyes lit up. "So you have no objections, husband?"

"Would you give up if I objected?" Wei Xunzhou pushed away Di Yao, who always leaned close to his face when happy, and put on a reluctant, compromising expression.

"Of course not, hehe... Unless I couldn't make any money." She was someone who wouldn't easily give up even after hitting a brick wall. Moreover, if she opened a restaurant and earned money, she could reincarnate sooner.

Earn money... Wei Xunzhou's mood, which had just relaxed, suddenly tightened again. Once she earned enough, she would leave.

Though they had decided to open a restaurant, it was no small matter. Venue, dishes, ingredients... A jumble of miscellaneous tasks would keep her busy for a long time. And the conditions in the Underworld were too limited.

Even though she could now grow wheat, she couldn't just sell noodles and wild vegetables. That business wouldn't last long. She needed to think of other methods.

After the lamp was extinguished, Di Yao grabbed her pillow and hugged it. Lately, the two rarely mentioned the affairs of the mortal world, and Di Yao no longer felt so guilty. She no longer hid her habit of hugging the pillow to sleep, pretending it was subconscious.

She had been in the Underworld for quite some time now—so long that she had almost forgotten how she used to be constantly on edge, afraid that Wei Xunzhou would abandon her.

But before was long, and after will be even longer. The matter that had been weighing on her heart should be explained. She didn't want to hide her memory loss from Wei Xunzhou any longer.

"Husband, are you asleep?" Di Yao pressed her face into the pillow, lying on her side and looking at Wei Xunzhou. Her voice was as soft as a feather.

Wei Xunzhou always slept so stiffly and restrained, and even his breathing was barely audible.

Somehow, Di Yao instinctively reached out and poked Wei Xunzhou's cheek. When she realized what she had done and tried to pull her hand back, Wei Xunzhou caught it.

Oh no...

Di Yao laughed sheepishly and tried to free her hand.

"What is it?"

The words on the tip of her tongue took a turn. Di Yao thought for a moment, then said, "Nothing much. I was just thinking, by my calculations, the wheat in the back yard should be ready for harvest again."

After she said it, she bitterly bit her tongue. Though she didn't want to admit it, this was the first time she found something so hard to say.

On second thought, an apology should be sincere. Di Yao silently decided to find an opportunity later to carefully draft a speech and explain everything properly to Wei Xunzhou.

The next morning, Di Yao got up early. With Wei Xunzhou's help, the wheat was harvested quickly, and they finished before noon.

At noon, Lin Shuang came again. Di Yao explained that she didn't plan to sell the land. Lin Shuang wasn't angry; she simply took out one tael of silver and bought a peck of wheat from Di Yao.

As Di Yao was seeing her out, a few women passed by, hurrying out of Wrongful Death City.

As they passed, Di Yao overheard them muttering something about Zhuangzhou Post.

It sounded familiar, so Di Yao asked Lin Shuang about it.

Lin Shuang said that Zhuangzhou Post was the only place in the Underworld where one could communicate with living relatives. One could send dreams and entrust any unfinished wishes—except for directly asking for food.
