Huangfu Jun Unleashes Her Power and Slaughter (2)
Hei Zhe's eyes flickered, but his tone carried a hint of disdain: "If, as you speculate, I only needed to devour the other nine, why would I bother eating Bo Qi? Don't you know that without my protection, Bo Qi would have died long ago?"
"That is precisely further evidence that you have only the form of Jiuying but not its full power. As everyone knows, Bo Qi had a special ability: he could not only connect with human dreams but also with the deepest dreams of demon consciousness. You had the most contact with him. It's unclear how much sincerity you gave, but Bo Qi trusted and relied on you deeply."
Huangfu Jun looked down at the black python, whose eyes were still rolling even though they were bound. She took a breath and continued: "Moreover, according to the archives, whenever conflicts arose, those nine snakes stood with you, tirelessly assisting you, like model brothers. Although they usually ignored Bo Qi, Bo Qi was grateful to them because of you. Thus, even if he inadvertently connected to your dreams and learned the secret of your true form—"
She paused, lowering her voice: "—and even if he might have known about your plan to devour and merge with the other nine snakes, he still kept it hidden and never spoke of it. Unfortunately, despite covering for you, he still couldn't escape death."
"..." Hei Zhe fell silent, his gaze vacant. Yes, he remembered the adoring look Bo Qi always gave him, the chattering around him that sometimes annoyed him so much he wanted to coil his tail around him and crush him. When had it started? When had Bo Qi become quiet, even avoiding him when bullied, no longer seeking his protection?
Jin Hu and the others looked at Huangfu Jun with complex expressions.
"Geez, Captain Bai, this little lady you brought has some skills. She's only been here a short while and she's already deduced seven or eight tenths of it. Awesome!" Jin Hu sidled up to Bai Lin, whispering.
"..." Bai Lin moved away from Jin Hu, giving him a 'you're on your own' look. Didn't he notice that the 'little lady' he mentioned had heard him?
Receiving Bai Lin's look, Jin Hu turned to Huangfu Jun and met her nuclear-level smile. He awkwardly rubbed his bald head and gave a silly grin.
Huangfu Jun rolled her eyes and looked down at Hei Zhe. "Still not talking, huh?"
"Bo Qi could devour nightmares," Hei Zhe said lowly.
"What?" Jin Hu was startled. "What does that have to do with you eating him?"
"The other nine snakes are my nightmare. In the dead of night, I constantly dream of my head being chopped off, my body dismembered, and humans dancing and celebrating around my corpse."
"Bo Qi could devour nightmares, right? He was basically helping you! And you ate him!" A supervisor was confused.
"Seeing them constantly reminds me of the pain and resentment of being dismembered! Damn them, they deserve to die! I want to regain my original power, I want revenge, I want destruction!\nOriginally, I couldn't find a way to merge. Bo Qi's appearance made it possible. He could connect dreams. Those nine fools had long forgotten their glorious past, becoming brainless brutes. But fortunately, they subconsciously feared beheading. With a little guidance, I could evoke their fear and make them have nightmares.\nWhen Bo Qi devoured those nightmares, he connected all ten of our dreams, awakening the Jiuying power hidden deep in their souls. That alone wasn't enough—it just opened the meridians without extracting the power. And Bo Qi, he was the catalyst."
"Damn! He treated you like a brother, and you treated him like a supplement!"
"This is their fate. Rather than live in a daze, it's better to be devoured and fight magnificently. Heh heh heh. You'd better worry about yourselves. You're demons, capable of moving mountains and seas, yet you choose to be human lackeys to restrain your own kind. Half-demons are called supervisors, but in truth, you're awkward in both worlds. These layers of barriers, the ones who suffer the most from the time-space distortion are the supervisors in the barrier interlayers, burning their lives. Who will remember your kindness?"
"Shut up! Stop sowing discord! Supervising is our willing duty. Our responsibility is to guard the stability of time-space fluctuations, expecting nothing in return!" Several supervisors shouted indignantly, even Jin Hu wore an expression of righteous anger.
"After you completed the merger, you disappeared for a while. We couldn't detect your aura. How did you do it?" Huangfu Jun, still not fully identifying with her half-demon identity or the Monster Bureau, remained the most calm. She asked with a hint of curiosity.
Hei Zhe glanced at her but ignored her.
"Captain Bai." Huangfu Jun looked at Bai Lin, dragging out his name slowly.
"Roar!" The chain around him suddenly sprouted spikes inward, digging deep into his flesh, causing Hei Zhe to twist from a straight line into a wavy one from pain.
"Speak." Bai Lin's expression remained cold as he spat out the word.
Hei Zhe gave Huangfu Jun a complex look before speaking: "The intense fluctuations of time-space distortion are harmful to the demons at the site, but we are exiles from a higher world, so we can withstand the impact. However, the strong fluctuations cause resonance with the barriers of the Supervision Bureau and Monster Bureau at a certain moment, creating a brief gap. As long as I conceal my demonic aura, I can evade barrier detection and slip through that gap. The stronger the fluctuation, the stronger the resonance, the longer the escape window. Unfortunately, there were too many barrier layers, and you came too fast, and I haven't fully recovered my peak form. Otherwise, I would have left this place long ago."
Huangfu Jun looked at Hei Zhe with a complex expression. This demon, though unschooled, had managed to figure out some physics. Couldn't he use that brain for something constructive?
"You even figured that out? Looks like your workload wasn't heavy enough. We'll need to readjust the workflow rhythm later." Jin Hu looked like he had a toothache.
"Alright, the most important questions have been answered. Lock him up and interrogate him further later. Captain Bai, if there's nothing else, we'll take him away." Jin Hu said to Bai Lin, who nodded. Then Jin Hu waved for other supervisors to prepare to escort Hei Zhe away.
Bai Lin raised his hand and retracted the chain binding Hei Zhe. Jin Hu and the others cast several sealing marks and locks. The locks flickered and formed a small array. Hei Zhe on the ground transformed back into human form, with metal locks on his neck, wrists, and ankles.
Hei Zhe tried to use his demonic power to break free, but the locks beeped twice and flashed red, causing Hei Zhe to convulse as if electrocuted.
"Hey, don't underestimate the Supervision Bureau's methods. This restraint device delivers top-grade lightning strikes whenever demonic power is used. Don't bother struggling." Jin Hu kicked the twitching Hei Zhe with his toe, sneering.
Just then, the space-time twisted for a moment, followed by a violent shockwave. As everyone swayed off balance, Hei Zhe, already on the ground, became the most composed. He rolled neatly, avoiding the staggering supervisors.
"Let her go!" A chilling voice suddenly rang out.
Once the shockwave passed, everyone steadied themselves and looked. They saw Hei Zhe standing not far away, holding Huangfu Jun in front of him as a shield. A small knife pressed against her fair neck, the blade coated with a layer of green slime, a bit of which had already dripped onto her fur collar, matting it.
"Remove my restraints, or I'll kill her immediately!" The tall Hei Zhe tried to shrink his size, keeping Huangfu Jun firmly in front of him to cover his vitals.
"Dream on! Threatening me with a little girl—what kind of man are you?"
"Heh, not being a man is better than being a dead man. Hurry up!"
"Jin Hu, remove them." Bai Lin gritted his teeth.
"Impossible! Captain Bai knows the danger level and importance of Hei Zhe. We cannot let him escape for this little girl." Jin Hu did not budge.
"Then there's no choice, little girl. It's not me who wants you dead. When you complain to the underworld, make sure you accuse the right person."
Hei Zhe pressed the knife, instantly cutting a wound on Huangfu Jun's neck. Green mucus mixed with blood seeped into the wound. Huangfu Jun visibly gasped, her face turning black.
"Poison?!" Everyone was shocked.
"Captain... Captain Bai..." Huangfu Jun slid weakly to the ground, reaching out in panic toward Bai Lin.
Bai Lin's face darkened instantly. He turned into a white light and attacked Hei Zhe, attempting to bring Huangfu Jun back from his feet.
Hei Zhe quickly retreated. The white light landed beside Huangfu Jun. As Bai Lin was about to help her up, he saw Huangfu Jun's eyes suddenly widen, and she urgently pushed him away: "Dodge!"
Bai Lin could almost see the reflection of a knife swinging down from behind in Huangfu Jun's wide eyes. But if he dodged, the fatal blow would hit Huangfu Jun. He had no choice but to hug her tightly and roll away, while forming an ice spike and shooting it backward.
However fast he was, he only avoided the vital spot. The blade still slashed a long gash on his arm, blood splattering everywhere.
"Hahahaha, cough cough..." Hei Zhe was hit by the ice spike, stumbled, reverted to his true form, and fell to the ground, spitting blood. He still laughed triumphantly, his eyes proud. He had guessed correctly: Huangfu Jun was Bai Lin's weakness. He couldn't escape today, but severely wounding their strongest combatant was worth it.
Thick, warm blood splattered on Huangfu Jun's face, and a drop entered her eye. Her vision blurred in red. In a daze, she saw a scene from childhood: a silver sparkling dragon, protecting her, falling to the bottom of a pool with a grim wound...
"Ah——!!" Huangfu Jun let out a mournful cry from deep in her chest. She suddenly rose into the air, her hair wildly dancing, eyes bloodshot, her body emitting an incredibly dazzling light.
She raised her hand, and a nine-arrow bow appeared. She drew the bowstring like a full moon, and nine arrows shot out simultaneously, whistling toward Hei Zhe's nine heads.
"You!! How could you..." Hei Zhe stared at the figure in the air and the approaching arrows in terror.
Jin Hu and the others were also shocked. Was it possible? How could it be him?!
