Chapter 1 (3)

Fang Yu lifted her chin. "Dream on!"

The cafeteria was brightly lit and noisy.

Zeng Keqin took a sip of milk tea. It was cloyingly sweet, but she didn't frown.

The weekend passed quickly.

At six in the morning, before dawn, Zeng Keqin quietly climbed down from her bunk, looked in the mirror, tied her hair into a ponytail, put on her most formal business suit, and even applied some light makeup.

When she came out of the bathroom, she ran into Wang Chunyue, who was rubbing her eyes.

"Why are you dressed like that?"

"Interview."

"Which company?"

"Bai Run'er."

"Wha... what?!"

Wang Chunyue instantly sobered up. Noticing that their roommate was still asleep, she lowered her voice. "Bai Run'er? The top ten law firm nationwide?"

"It's just an interview. Not sure if I'll pass yet."

"Who cares if you pass! Such great news and you didn't tell us?!"

"It's not too late to tell you now."

"Alright, alright, you rock! Go for it! Bring glory to our dorm!"

*

Bai Run'er Law Firm was located in the most bustling CBD core area of Jiangchuan.

Zeng Keqin stood in front of the skyscraper, looked up, and the sunlight reflected off the glass windows made her dizzy.

Suddenly, her phone vibrated incessantly.

She lowered her head and saw messages from the dorm group chat.

Wang Chunyue: [@Zeng Keqin Go go go! You're the best! Fighting!]

Liu Ying: [Don't be nervous, just treat it like a chat. Doge.]

Fang Yu: [After the interview, treat us to a meal! Watermelon.]

Zeng Keqin looked at the screen and curved her lips. Just as she was about to reply, a shadow fell over her, completely blocking the light.

What came into view was a dark blue denim jacket, its collar wide open, revealing unruly wrinkles, with broad shoulders.

So tall!

She had to look up.

A shock of dazzling blonde hair made her squint slightly.

Their features were sharp to the point of fierceness: high brow bones, deep-set eyes, a chiseled jawline. Their dark eyes looked down at her, carrying an undisguised scrutiny.

On their left ear bone were five earrings—just looking at them hurt. Clearly, this person was no pushover.

Zeng Keqin quickly searched her memory and confirmed she didn't know them. To avoid trouble, she lowered her head and sidestepped to go around them.

But the person blocked her again, a cold, hard voice pressing down from above—

"When are you going to pay back the money you owe my brother?"
