"You figure it out."
Zeng Keqin pursed her lips guiltily. "Since you already know, why did you call?"
"If I hadn't, were you going to keep playing deaf and dumb?"
"I'll find out who did it and prove my innocence."
A sneer came from the other end. "You?"
Snap—
The anger inside her was instantly ignited.
Zeng Keqin recalled all his recent bad behavior and involuntarily raised her voice. "Fine, then I'll go to the police station right now and file a case. Let the police investigate your buddy's case thoroughly..."
"Excuse me, could you keep your voice down? This is a library," a nearby person reminded her kindly.
Zeng Keqin turned to apologize. "Sorry..." Then she lowered her voice. "Don't bother me anymore!"
Without waiting for his response, she hung up and continued studying the cases.
'Beep, beep, beep—'
Jiang Shiyu stared blankly at his phone as the screen returned to the contacts list.
She dared to hang up on him!
The first time they'd met, she'd stumbled over her words, and now she didn't hesitate for a second to hang up.
He grabbed the overnight report on the table and stood up to leave.
"Brother Jiang, where are you going?"
"The library."
Time ticked by.
Sunlight streamed in through the window, tiny dust particles floating in the light.
Suddenly, a pair of pale, slender hands slammed heavily onto the desk.
Zeng Keqin looked up, her gaze moving slowly from the hands upward—the sleeves were rolled up to the elbows, creased in a few folds, revealing strong arms. A black motorcycle jacket hung loosely over a white T-shirt, and a silver necklace glinted coldly.
Higher up, she saw a sharp jawline.
And that face—the one she least wanted to see.
